I was talking to my Father and got information I never knew!
In 63 years I was NEVER told he tried to enlist to fight in Korea.
I was never told my Step Grand Father survived 7 Beach Landings in the Pacific during WWII.
I was never told I might be related to Lieutenant General Leslie Richard Groves Jr.
I always assumed when I enlisted and became a ParaTrooper in the 82nd AirBorne, I was the first in my family memory to serve.
:o
It's in the the blood mate!

Not a much of a surprise just another family story.
When my grandfather came to the U.S. he was met by his brother Torvald in Boston and they headed west to a place called Stavanger, Minnesota. Apparently he was so influence by the Dakota indian tribes out there that years later he named his first born Gawama. Unfortunetly grandfather and mother died when the children were young and none of us other squareheads knows anything about the Dakota Souix language to figure what it actually means.

Amazing what you find out. I found out recently that my uncle Bill operated landing craft in the pacific during ww2. Heck he might have ferried your grandfather on one of his landings.

What separates a posterboy from a real fighter? The latter does not blast about it. ;) He does it when needed, and does not when not needed, and stays shut up elsewise. :yeah:
