View Full Version : Crash to desktop at same point every time

I'm at a point in my save where I've just attacked a squadron of destroyers, sunk 4 of them, and now I want to dive to hide. But it seems that after a couple of minutes of loading this save, no matter what I do, the game crashes to desktop with no error message.

Now I'll admit, I did a couple of "faux pas". First of all, I saved while at periscope depth right after I sank the 4th destroyer. Secondly, I had recently been removing and adding back some mods to do testing on another issue (mainly Dynamic Environment).

I also know the game has a lot to process with something like 20 ships near me and a lot of them are destroyers hunting me. So I tried to avoid using time compression, but it even crashed once without TC.

Any advice or idea what's going on? Perhaps I should add back the Dynamic Environment mods I was using previously? I'd hate to lose this save after getting several lucky hits with my torpedoes! My mods are as follows:

I haven't taken an FPS measurement, but my system runs the game very comfortably so performance shouldn't be an issue.

If any other info would help, please let me know. Thanks in advance!

i would try to remove Balus Stuka LOD fix see what happens

Well, removing Balus Stuka LOD fix didn't seem to work, but I finally did manage to escape! After several failed attempts due to crashing, I added the Dynamic Environment mods back and this time was able to slip away at flank speed on the surface. This may have been due to Dynamic Environment making the waves bigger and thus restricting the destroyers' visibility. Still not sure what caused the original crashing though.
