Dawn Wells, the actress best known for her role as Mary Ann in the '60s sitcom "Gilligan's Island," died Wednesday from COVID-19 complications, her representative told USA TODAY. She was 82.

Wells died Wednesday at 7:30 a.m. in Los Angeles from "causes related to COVID," representative Harlan Boll told USA TODAY in an email. He said she "passed peacefully ... in no pain."

This makes me very sad. I was always a Mary Ann guy. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't have kicked Ginger out of bed. But Mary Ann - sorry, Dawn - was something else.

R.I.P., Ms. Wells.

While Gilligan's Island was not favorite of mine that I looked for in reruns, I certainly remember Dawn Wells and watched a number of episodes in syndication. There was just something about Dawn that was immediately likable.

I'm sorry that Covid vaccinations didn't come early enough to Keep Dawn and many other good, basic people, safe and well.

Rest in peace, Dawn

Yep! That just leaves Ginger ... hard to believe that they are older than I am. They were young and I was young when I was watching them.

They must of out grew me ... :yep:

Another person on FB said, "Doesn't anyone die of heart attacks anymore"? :o

I'm sure you're right and this is probably the best description of Dawn Well's charms. :yep:

Dawn Wells was many a young (and old) guy's dream back in the 60s, and, through reruns and the Net, has been a dream for later generations also. She was the All-American girl next door and she was also one of the sexiest gals in 60s TV; she was was the sort of girl you would take home to mom, but keep away from dad...

Ginger may have been cast as the more overtly sexier of the two younger female castaways but Mary Ann was easily the sexier of the two. (Tina Louise, who was Ginger, absolutely hated the role and has almost always refused to be associated with the role since she left it.) I mean, compared to Ginger, Mary Ann was a bombshell; where Tina was almost always in full length gowns or other usually covering costumes, Dawn was really showing off what the Good Lord gave her; I mean, those legs in those shorts, with the tied off shirts or crop tops were more than enough to keep guys watching; and, in episodes where other costumes were involved, the producers seemed to wisely put her in outfits designed to make the most of her physical attributes...

In real life, she was always very comfortable with her Mary Ann character and was gracious with her fans; I've seen or heard a good many interviews with her over the years and she never seemed to tire of talking about Gilligan's Island and she always had only good memories and things to say about all her cast mates; she was a class lady in a classless place like Hollywood and she will be missed...

A one-two punch!!?? considering falls in the home are leading cause of death in the elderly...

I remember my favorite Gilligan's Island episode

It was the one where they hatched a plan to get off the island but at the last moment Gilligan messed things up and the plan failed.

Remember that episode?
