OK...first off, I haven't played SH3 in many years but decided to get back into it. It's amazing how many of the little things you forget .
I've been searching the forum for about 45 minutes but can't seem to find the answer I'm looking for. I know I used to be able to have an external camera that followed my U-boat instead of me always having to move the camera manually, to keep up...but I don't remember how?
This is probably the first of many such questions this returning Kapitan will have. I will always search first...but y'know how forum searches go, at times. :wah:

Try the "< >" no shift keys.

I just went back and reviewed every post I've ever made here...thinking a lot of questions I have now I may have asked years ago (A mind is a terrible thing to waste). And, lo and behold:

Thanks, however, for reminding me!
This is going to be a long, hard road back to quality sinkings.

I notice that I can't "zoom" back very far from my boat? Again, if memory serves, I thought I could zoom back much farther than I can currently?
Thank you for bearing with me...this is going to be a long hard road back.

Depending on the super mod being used, some will allow you to pull back further than others and some will permit you to zoom closer.
You can also use the captains view and move off the bridge but can be much slower, but I think if you use the shift key it will increase the speed of movement, the draw back is you can not get back unto the bridge view proper without moving back the way you came. Changing screens to say Zentral and then back to the bridge will only place it back away from the boat as previous.
Am I making sense?

All this can be fine tuned to your liking via opening Library/camera.dat …with S3D.

I see that I have "S3D_v099.rar" in my SH3 folder, where I saved all my SH3 mods and such, years ago. Is this still the best version? I'm going to have to read up on using it as I have no idea what to do with it, once installed.
