Hydrophone range and subs rang

Hello everyone,

I'm have SH4 + TMO 2.5.

I saw that the hydrophone has a maximum range of 10000 yards, yet I'm able to hear far as 20000 yards... Why?

Also- I know the maximum range of the ww2 subs is 11000 miles at 10 knots. Yet I'm getting a range of 23000 mile at that speed..

Is it sopose to be like that or it is some kind of a bug?

do you have any crew with special abilities, such as expert sonarman or propulsion specialist or engines expert?
crew with those skills will give your boat the kind of performance that you describe above.

I do have an engine expert (and no sonar man expert), but those values were also before i had the engine expert.

Also , those values seems to be way off the chart..

special abilities apply multipliers to certain features in a positive but unestimate-able way...meaning an engine expert will increase certain performance but in an inexact quantity. hence, some performance may be "off the chart".

don't sweat it. just enjoy the game.

Simply put, the game is broken.


The hydrophone you start with has a maximum range of 10000 yards, and your crew will only be able to detect ships out to that range.
Later hydrophones increase the range to 20000 yards, and once you install those, your crew will be able to detect ships out to that range.


However, if you go to the hydrophone station, you can hear contacts out to 20000 yards, no matter which hydrophones you have installed.
