EXCLUSIVE-U.S. Treasury breached by hackers backed by foreign government - sources
"The United States government is aware of these reports and we are taking all necessary steps to identify and remedy any possible issues related to this situation," said National Security Council spokesman John Ullyot.
There is concern within the U.S. intelligence community that the hackers who targeted the Treasury Department and the Commerce Department's National Telecommunications and Information Administration used a similar tool to break into other government agencies, according to three people briefed on the matter. The people did not say which other agencies.
The hack is so serious it led to a National Security Council meeting at the White House on Saturday, said one of the people familiar with the matter.

This is not good. I suggest if you can, freeze your cards until you need them and especially watch your accounts where deposits are made and maybe change passwords. I logged on my bank today and was greeted by a pop-up that said due to technical difficulties at DFAS active duty early pay deposits will be delayed. Didn't think much of it until I read the above article.

oh fercrissakes, really? You're going with another Trump conspiracy?
This is foreign espionage, data theft, targeting the U.S. government, its interests, and economy. Most likely they HAD to report it today because some people were expecting to receive paychecks tomorrow. We'll probably never know when the breach actually occurred it could have been last month for all we know.

Not really. I thought it could be another scare story cooked up.
For what purpose? Really, I'd like to see where you're going. :haha:
Maybe the Karens did it?
Maybe it was Hunter Biden?
Maybe it was Crooked Hillary getting revenge for..something?

Like I said before. When I lived in the Panama Canal Zone ships were required to turn off high power emitting antennas. Most did, except the Soviets they were always rolling in RADAR on and snooping around the best they could. It was brought up to a navy officer and he just said: we do the same thing to them.
Not trying to justify anything by this but what happened to the OPM, Treasury and god only knows what other agency has probably already been done to them by our side. Its government and corporate espionage, we all do it. Unfortunately its usually only us poor working stiffs that get hit the hardest when they play games like this. So tighten up.

Must not be very important for the news is hardly covering it
The coronavirus shot is more important, plus it seems to be old news that happened many months ago :hmmm:

if they do nothing else, i hope they trigger the self destruct button forthe IRS and blow that whole agency to dust, we dont need it or any of the other hundreds of government agencies that exist only to justify their own waste

I mean Solar Winds incident was a massive screw up. This is probably the biggest breach in this decade.
Below are some but not all of the clients:

Many others were affected.
More or less all of those were entirely compromised (this network management tool would provide a backdoor to essentially any part of the network it manages) and it looks like Chineese may have been behind this breach, that said, considering the scale of the security screw up, could have been multiple actors exploiting the backdoor.

While use of cyber tools to collect data is not unusual (and US&co do this a lot themselves) this a probably the biggest breach ever.
Not only because of how much data could have been collected/stolen, but also because this may have allowed to install other backdoors etc and, well, spread.

Well to be honest with you ikalugin ... I said that four days ago when it didn't seem to be a big deal.
The roll out of the coronavirus shot was bigger, but now it's all over the news with the blame headed for the WH that this was going on way back in March.
PS What in the heck to they do with all of that data anyway?
It would take an army to read it flag it and use it.
They must use computer software just to read what's important to them.
The future isn't to bright if this continues ... perhaps we should put our secrets somewhere else that you can't access them. :yep:
