Sean Connery, the Scottish-born actor who was the first to utter the famous movie line, “the name’s Bond, James Bond,” has died. He was 90.
His death was confirmed by his family, the BBC reported. Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon called him “first and foremost, a patriotic and proud Scot.”
Though he made more than 60 films, winning an Academy Award for his supporting role as an incorruptible lawman on the trail of Al Capone in “The Untouchables” (1987), Connery was most closely affiliated with the debonair fictional British spy he portrayed seven times.
Connery “defined an era and a style,” according to the official James Bond Twitter account. “The wit and charm he portrayed on screen could be measured in mega watts; he helped create the modern blockbuster.”

I've suspected for several months that we would soon be losing him.

An icon of movies, and so many pleasurable roles. Like wine he grew the better the older he got. He did not need to act, just be on screen - and by that already being present.
Bon voyage, Sir.
Hello my friend...long time no see.
Hi mate! :) Long time no see, indeed :) Hope all is good! :)

It would certainly be hard to pick a favorite movie role that Sean Connery played. Among my favorites would of course be as James bond and as Marco Ramius in The Hunt for Red October. Sean also played a memorable part in Highlander as Juan Sánchez-Villalobos Ramírez. In fact, Sean Connery played a commanding role in every part he played.
Actor Mike Myers honoring Sean Connery.

R.I.P. Sir!
Besides several films that already were mention here, I watched a few times The Hill, a good war drama film!
And like Robin and Marian and The Name of the Rose

Most of the time. Pity about his pro Scottish independent stance that on times made him sound quite anti English which I felt was unnecessary. Still he was a great actor and will be sorely missed.

^ Sean wasn't Anti English as far as I knew. Sean was just a nationalist as we all are to varying degrees. Sean loved Scotland and felt Scotland should be free and make it's own decisions but maintain the tight relationship it has with England. With people who are famous actors or artists, there will always be lesser people looking for faults who are motivated by jealousy. Meaning, those who wrote demeaning articles.
Pity about his pro Scottish independent stance ...

An actors actor imho. Even at the height of his Bond gig his performances in "The Man Who Would Be King", "The Russia House", the gritty: "The Hill", "A Fine Madness", my favorite; Pennsylvania coal mines: "The Molly Maguires"; all showed he could do it all avoiding 007 typecasting to his luminous turns in "Hunt for Red October" and the ensemble cast: "A Bridge Too Far". His outshining of star Kevin Costner in "The Untouchables" rightly earned him a Best Supporting Oscar. Connery's Bond wasn't blunt like equally enjoyable Danial Craig's, but marvelously smooth, sophisticated; the quintessential 007 to all the runner-ups... my vodka gimlets are "shaken, never stirred." :Kaleun_Cheers::Kaleun_Salute:

His credibility took a steep nose dive here in the UK at the time.
