So as everyone knows when in any view in the sub, like on the bridge or in the conn tower, basically when not in the Nav map view, the time compression is limited to x32. Is there anyway to make this higher? Not looking for lightning speed but even just up to 200 or 512, i like the bridge view 😆

main.cfg, i believe.

The file in question, can be found, as follows:

In the main folder the game is located:

Data\Cfg\main.cfg

The section you want, is under '' [TIME COMPRESSION] ''

This is the set up I have that set as:

[TIME COMPRESSION]
TimeStop=0
RealTime=1
LandProximity=128
CriticalDamage=1
CrewEfficiency=128;1
AirEnemyDetected=1
SoundEffects=128
CharacterAnim=64
EnemyDetected=1
RadioReport=1
Particles=64
PrayState=256
HunterState=256
3DRender=1024
Maximum=1024

If you wish to go with that, is a simple matter of copying Mine, going to the main.cfg file in your folder, then highlight it & then right click the highlighted area & then select ''paste'' option in the menu list that pops up & paste Mine there.

Eazy peazy, Mac & cheezy....

Hope this helps...

:Kaleun_Salute:And that all works for you? No changes in ANY other file?

Edit: There's TWO Main.cfg file in a similar location. One is in the game installation folder and the other is in Documents. Both have the data/cfg/main.cfg file path.

The 1 you want, is the 1 in the game install folder, listed as I outlined... & yes, that works for Me... no changing any other files, other than that main.cfg file. That's it.

:Kaleun_Salute:Hmm, I tried it last night and the one at D:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Silent Hunters Wolves of the Pacific\Data\Cfg doesn't do anything. I add to go to C:\Users\****\Documents\SH4\data\cfg to get it to change. :hmmm:

Could be you're attempting to edit it after starting off on a career... :06:

I did the editing to that exact file I mentioned... BEFORE even starting the game, after I did the install & modding of it... am guessing if you try to after starting a career, could be the cause of the editing to NOT take hold & is only being accepted by the save document one... again, just a guess here... I could well be wrong about it. :o

:Kaleun_Salute:Didn't even try Career mode, went straight for single mission.

:06: :k_confused:

Am at a loss as to why editing it in the main game install folder, is NOT taking hold, then...

Yea it always worked for me when I went to Documents/SH4/data/cfg/main.cfg

I have never had it work for me if I tried to edit the main.cfg in the main installation folder.

:06:

Ok, after cogitating this for a bit.. the only thing I can come up with...

It's possibly that My success with editing the 1 in the in game folder, was due to editing the main.cfg in the in game installation folder, before starting to play the game, after doing the install as was needed to be done.

From what I've seen thus far, with others attempting to edit that file & it not being able to be done to that same 1 as I did, but instead only to the 1 in the game save folder, instead... leads Me to believe that method can only be done because the game was started without doing the steps that I did. I have no other idea as to avoid having to go that route, unless you do a complete wipe & reinstall of the game... a rather lengthy & pain inducing process that I DO NOT recommend, unless absolutely necessary...

So.. if it means having to go into the save folder & editing the main.cfg file there... & that works to allow the changes to the time compression... and it doesn't crash or cause some other issues, then as the maxim goes, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.. go with it.

This is the only explanation I can come up with...
