So, I have noticed that if I save and quit Sh3 when I'm near a convoy/enemy port, it often breaks the save when I try to load it later.

Example: I go off on patrol, find some ships, get setup to shoot them, save game, and then reload and the game crashes to desktop when I load the save. It just crashes right before it loads in.

It's not a problem when I'm around one ship.

it becomes a problem when I'm around 2+ ships.

If I save at sea with no ships in view/SO range I never have loading issues.

I normally don't have CTD's when playing the game, they are very very rare, I have just been having some when loading into the game when I was near convoys. Any ideas on how to fix this? It's a bit annoying to not be able to save when near a convoy and reliably be able to reload it later.

Your experiences are known issues with the game. I don't know if you are using GWX 3. But in their manual (in Documentation folder) there is a list of known issues and for the most part workarounds. The most notable are to be 50km away from land, port and other ships. A hydrophone check is the most certain way of noticing 'something is out there.'

Thanks. I had figured this was probably normal but I was just curious if there was any way of getting around it.

Sometimes I will save a game when I'm in a good position to take down tons of ships as long as i dont' **** it up, and then I end up missing all my shots so I'll try and savescum and then it's broken lmao :< Guess save scumming never pays!

Most of the time though it's because I am near a ship or just a little too close to land and it just craps out the save. Oh well.

thanks!

If you're not using GWX there is a link to the manual below.

Yeah I'm using GWX. Just can't save near convoys I guess. No save scumming for me!

Prior to saving go to periscope depth, then stop engines, F2 and do a 360 degree hydrophone sweep (all in real time of course).

My biggest gripe with the game bar none.:k_confused:

You wander the open ocean for hours and just when you need to turn off the game you get a convoy!

Forgot to mention you should then surface before saving
