Considering they shot down their own Airliner:now this
:nope: The saga of Iran’s fake aircraft carrier,https://www.redlakenationnews.com/home/cms_data/dfault/photos/stories/id/3/1/91031/.TEMP/s_topTEMP425x425-9570.jpeg (https://www.redlakenationnews.com/photos/big/91031/12) intended as a propaganda coup, is turning into an own goal. The Iranian armed forces, particularly the IRGC-N (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy) delight in attacking the mock U.S. Navy aircraft carrier. It makes their war games more dramatic. And it may be intended to symbolize that they could, if called upon, sink an American carrier. The carrier itself, actually an elaborate target barge, is not intended to sink, however. Instead it is reusable and has been symbolically ‘destroyed’ twice already. But now it really has sunk. And in very much the wrong place.
The location of the sinking will likely create a serious headache for the Iranian Navy and IRGC-N. It is just outside the harbor entrance to Bandar Abbas, near to the main approach channel.
The water there is approximately 45 ft deep, which is shallow. This makes it worse for Iran because it cannot be left to sink. It is so shallow that other ships face a very real risk of catastrophic damage if they sail over it. In fact, at least as-of a couple of days ago, it was partly above water. This is a serious shipping hazard. Bottom Line: the 'gang that can't shoot straight' can't sink right!:Kaleun_Goofy:In gloating however, ours is the gang that can't steer straight-(two collisions with fatalities)....and we just lost the Bonhomme Richard to boot during a refit gone badly wrong. https://www.forbes.com/sites/hisutton/2020/08/03/iran-accidentally-sinks-fake-aircraft-carrier-in-wrong-place/#7b58f829fe75 (https://www.forbes.com/sites/hisutton/2020/08/03/iran-accidentally-sinks-fake-aircraft-carrier-in-wrong-place/#7b58f829fe75)

I was not aware of this sinking, just the firing on the carrier.

Fear that this would happen if we take out or deny Iran's nuclear weapon program,
but the real fear has yet to settle in that Iran would cease to excist if they did carry out their death threat to a USN CVN. :o

What admiral would become admiral if being capable of producing ideas like sending a carrier into a small limited water body like the inner Gulf during times of naval war...? No, it will not happen that the Iranians sink a carrier in a fashion like this ^ and in these water. And catching one with their tiny speedboats out on the ocean - that is somethign different, I doubt their marine is capable of it. Their best chance would be a happy day for one of their submarines, and chances for that I think are grim even if they have over thirty subs, two dozens of which are mini-subs. In case of war, the carriers would stay out of reach for the Irnaians, and approach Iranian territory only as close as needed to conduct air operations. Its the lgoical thing. "Deliver them blows, but stay out of their reach."
