Here’s the test to find out (https://www.politicalcompass.org/test).

I ended up here:

https://i.imgur.com/1ex9T3j.png

The left to right scale indicates your economic beliefs. Far-left means that you believe that the economy should be completely controlled, centre-left and centre-right mean that you believe the economy should be free but with some regulation to varying degrees, while far-right means that you believe that the economy should have no regulations on it at all, and corporations should have complete freedom.

The authoritarian to libertarian scale indicates your social beliefs. Far-authoritarian means that you believe that everyone should be completely under the control of a ruling power, centre-authoritarian and centre-libertarian mean that you believe in a balance between person freedom and government power to varying degrees, and far-libertarian means that you believe that no-one should have to answer to anyone, ever.

For context, Mao Zedong would be far-left and far-authoritarian, while anarcho-capitalists would be far-right and far-libertarian.

I know this already, but it could be interesting to compare where one stands in the present, compared to lets say six years earlier - if only I would remember. :)

A bit of everything. However, there are times in real life when I decide to not form an opinion on something and where I am totally neutral, or desinterested. The answers do not allow to reflect such a stand, so there is some margin of variation to be expected on both axis. I would have seen myself somewhere at + 2-3 on economic (so leaning slioghtly to the right instead the left side), and the Libertarian value roughly where it ended up to be.

And honestly said, I queston the outcomes of this "test" anyway.

It's kinda funny but I don't need a quiz to tell me what I already know.

Hmmm.... I thought I'd be much closer to upper left corner but the system does think otherwise and places me closer to Ghandi :-)

That's why i am doubting the veracity of the poll. There is no way that Skybird and I are that close politically.

I wonder if the national polls are as skewed to the left?

The rich get richer
The poor get the picture
The bombs never hit you when you're down so low
Some got pollution
Some revolution
There must be some solution but I just don't know
The bosses want decisions
The workers need ambitions
There won't be no collisions whey they move so slow
Nothing ever happens
Nothing ever matters
No one ever tells me so what am I to know

The left-right scale is purely economical, and I had a feeling you’d fit there after you posted a meme criticising forced diversity by out-of-touch capitalists a few days ago.

It’s the up-down scale that measures stuff like freedom of speech, freedom of expression, right to bear arms, etc..

I’d guess that it’s possible to end up in the same quadrant as someone you disagree with. For example, two people have the same economic views, but one is pro-gun and anti-trans, while the other is anti-gun and pro-trans, then they have a similar balance of libertarian and authoritarian ideals, just applied to different areas.

Or maybe it is just broken, I’m just throwing out ideas :D

That test has been around for years the questions tend to be vague and it is very easy to skew your results. The results of that test will likely end up being used in a poll or academic study somewhere, and is the reason I'm skeptical of polls and data sets.

Since everyone else is in the lower/left quadrant, I figure I should bring a little diversity to the thread.

Most likely not with the exception of a high-school paper.

you would be surprised, both U.S. political parties use online surveys on a regular basis, and I'm sure the soft sciences do as well.
