A US Air Force pilot is missing after a fighter jet crashed into the North Sea.

The F-15C Eagle, from the 48th Fighter Wing at RAF Lakenheath in Suffolk, crashed shortly after 09:30 BST while on a training mission.

The cause of the crash is currently unknown but the US Air Force confirmed only one pilot was on board.

Search and rescue teams are looking for the aircraft, which is believed to have crashed 74 nautical miles off the East Yorkshire coast.

I pray for the safety and health of this F-15 pilot.
That he may be found in good shape.

Well I hope there is only one person on board the F-15C. Otherwise the USAF is getting a bit too chummy.

Usually the authorities know when the pilot ejects. If they still don't know, it might not be looking good for the pilot. :(

Sad indeed. This was all over the news here... not so far away, after all. We see the F-15s all the time... I think they come to use the gunnery ranges nearby
