Nice story Mr Squirrel, must say though those Germans and Russians must have been feeding their young ladies the same bloody ugly pills. Do you think that's how the war started with the Russians, just imagine for a moment Hitler phoning Stalin up and saying "our young birds are uglier than yours Joseph" Stalin replies "hold my beer". :haha:

Waddya talking about? Russian girls are no uglier than the girls of any other country.

I mean I'd hit that.

Especially being single, young and fit, surrounded by death, destruction and smelly angry men. She would have stood out from all of that like Venus.

We've got a lot of Polish girls living out our way these days, and I really must say that most of these have managed to dodge the Ugly Tree

If i recall well there was a troop of green beret in Kosovo in 2001 who did a mission with the Spetnaz against a group of rebel who sniped one of the Russian.

Mark Giaconia recall this event in a book

I remember reading that the SS formed one of their special 'foreigner' divisions to recruit British soldiers from captured personnel... and got just six takers

About half the SS (or at least the Waffen-SS) was non-German at the end of the war. The Estonian Waffen-SS were used by the US Army to guard Nazi war criminals at Nuremberg.

It’s amazing to me that the Waffen-SS had recruits from Denmark, Norway, Holland, Belgium, and France. I can understand why Baltic people would join the fight against the Soviets who had invaded them, why nationalists in the Balkans would ally themselves with the destroyers of Yugoslavia, and why Indians would want to sign up with the enemy of the hated British invaders. But the Danish, Norwegians, Dutch, Belgians, and French had been invaded and occupied by the Nazis. All of them except France had been attacked while neutral.

If they held fascist beliefs, that would explain it somewhat, but it seems hypocritical for a nationalist to welcome invaders with open arms. Fear of communism could have been another factor, but frankly that seems like preparing for a flood when your house is already on fire. Why be concerned about a possible Soviet invasion when the Nazis just blew up your neighbourhood?
