I've just started the game and i noticed that on my longer patrols just west of the UK, the weather is always clean but the winds stay at 15 knots and its impossible to hunt. i have waited over a week in game and it stayed like that, i usually travel at 1024 and save often and people say doing so makes the weather reset is there any fix for this? using GWX3 and SH3 commander

That is a usual occurrence. In my experience traveling at lower TC sometimes works. I never travel higher than 128. It is safer when traveling.

I've never noticed tc to have any affect on weather at all, fwiw. However, reloading a saved game resets the weather timer before a change is possible.
H.sie's (https://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=174225) patch fixes the timer and can force a weather change but can be difficult to install for some.
Another weather alternative is Stiebler's weather mod which can be installed as is. It's number 10 on the list here. (https://www.subsim.com/mods1/nygm/)
Fwiw, your experience with the weather is closer to actual weather encountered by the u-boats than not.
The fixes above tend to give to nice of weather imo, but it's your choice of course.

 With EnvSimAct 10 weather is changing quite often (sometimes too often!) and you can even start patrol in very bad weather!
Never been stuck in 15/ms more than 3 days with it.

i tried stiebler weather mod with the Hsie fixes and it solved my problem, once my save loaded it started raining a lot and very bad visibility with high winds, i was then searching for a convoy from a BDU report, and then my WO reports 2 cargo ships at near range they were at around 1-2km away from me, i quickly submerged as i noticed i was in the middle of the convoy:o i tried to get away from it then a ship noticed me as i got too close to it but luckily the destroyers did not find me. the weather started to clear so i got around 14km distance from the convoy and surfaced to get ahead of them and get into position to fire a few torps, i got around 3km from the convoy and fired 2 salvos of 2 torps. on the first shot i managed to hit one torp so i changed my position and fired another 2 torpedos and managed to hit both, but then when i looked there was a light thing on the sky and it lit my position and they found my position (if someone could explain to me how these work i'd appreciate) i quickly went on ahead flank and dived to 90 meters then activated silent running and changed speed to 2 knots, 2 destroyers then came and started throwing a bunch of depth charges everywhere luckily i managed to escape, i've never been in a tense situation like that in any game :salute:

By "light thing" do you mean a flare ? If so, that is normal convoy behavior when attacked.

Once you fire, need to clear the area. The escorts in SH3 are not very good unless you allow them to be. :)

Fifi, for my experience is posible have even a week of 15m/s. What is not possible is have a storm longer than 2/3 days.
With incredible bad luck, you could have a storm, then get few days of heavy clouds with extreme wind (medium visibilit), and then get other storm. But normally someone don't have so bad luck.

You are right. Was speaking of 15ms AND heavy fog (hence rain)...no more than 3 days :yep:
But after that, can have 3 more days of 15ms but clear weather visi unlimited...or just light fog.
I like it that way.
Quite often, i also have the sea state going bad progressively, not zero m/s to 15 m/s right away. And inverse too...
But it could happen to jump the progression sometimes....

On side note, i don’t have unchecked the Hsie bad weather fix box.
Checked or unchecked, don’t see any difference with EnvSimAct 10.

It's entirely possible to have gale or hurricane force winds last for weeks at a time.
Storms of that duration were described by buchheim in das Boot, and historically, the winter weather of the 1940s got worse with each successive season.
In a hurricane, you could have 3 weeks of nasty winds/waves, hit the eye, have a few days of nice, calm weather, and then as soon as the storm wall catches up with you, back to another 3 weeks of being bounced and tossed around.
I also have not taken much issue with the way the weather is modelled in the stock game, it does the job well enough.

Yep, I've been using the stock file for awhile now with no complaints. Blair's books mention the same; weeks of continuous stormy weather in all years of the war.

Steibler salud they the file needs the patch turned of fur weather fix... I really don't know, I have it turn off and I like you suppose he never tested, but I like to use him recommendation.
In my actual patrol, on Norway invasion dates, I hate this month, I had 12 days with wind over 15m/s with all the weather condition. I hit a cv in a convoy with a salvo with only 1 hit, and I don't know how in nygm I blow a merchant with 3 deck gun hits, I don't know how, but it blows up. Strage days strike Norway.

Note, 15m/s is not the maximum value fur wrong in game, it's trimmed to display it. I don't remember the real maximum. Maybe in steibler or h.sie indicate it.
