View Full Version : I Have Lost My Wife And Soul Mate To Cancer

Hello my friends.
It saddens me to tell you that my wife passed peacefully away at home at 17.15 on Tuesday.
She was diagnosed in February with bile duct terminal cancer after becoming jaundiced.
Although Lynnette had a stent fitted, it became blocked within a month and the jaundice came back and she looked like a minion.
From Monday afternoon she became bed bound and had a rough painful night.
On Tuesday morning the district nurse used a syringe driver to insert the drugs needed to keep her comfortable.
A cetheter was fitted and it drained away the fluid from the liver which was causing the pain from the night.

She was able to communicate with family and friends who came to say goodbye and by late afternoon drifted into a coma.
It would have been her 72nd birthday on the 23rd, we would have been married for 50 years on November 13th.
God bless you, your loving husband Peter

THEBERBSTER, I am so sorry, my deepest condolences. I lost a young friend to cancer back in the first grade. He was only 7.

We should treasure the time we have with our family members or any other person as they can be taken away from us tomorrow or right now.

I hope you are ok, THEBERBSTER.

My deepest condolences, I hope you have people around you that watch over you while you try to find light in this darkness that has fallen. And if you have the feeling your soul mate sails an easier ocean of light now - trust in that feeling and wish her a bon voyage, for doing so over time might help you to find back into the light as well. Just give it time.

People say that a person is only truly dead once they are forgotten.
Keep her memory alive and she won't be dead, she is already dead physically, but not mentally.

50 years is a long time to be married. It must've been a healthy and very loving relationship.

She is in a better land now and is not in pain and is healthy and happy.

I will pray for you, THEBERBSTER. I hope that you recover and get back to life and you keep her alive forever.

What an awful shock, Peter... I'm so very very sad and sorry. Grief is the price we pay for love, so they say... but I can't begin to imagine it, old friend

Oh Peter. I am so terribly sorry to hear of your dear Lynette's passing. Truly, I'm at a loss for words right now. As Neal already said, you have many friends here to lean on at this difficult time. I hope you have that there as well. We are all a message away.

I will keep both you, Lynette and your families in my prayers.

Rest in Peace Lynette and may God's blessing be upon you both and your families.

All the best to you, Peter.

Dear Peter.

I feel your pain. I lost mine to cancer 10 years ago. At first I thought I'd go crazy with grief, but friends were there.....and responsibilities, and it became "one breath after another, one step after another" and the years passed as they do.

I still miss her terribly and always will till we meet again in the hereafter. I see her often in dreams - sometimes VERY lucid ones too where we hold hands and talk about old times.

Cherish your memories, and I join with your friends here sending you heartfelt condolences.

Eisenwurst.

Peter;

I have no prayers to offer, but I will extend whatever small comfort I have should you wish to talk about anything. We often forget that our fellow sub-simmers are more than just print that appears on a computer screen. We have all lost people dear to us (my own dad died in 2012) and we all need comfort, or isolation from time to time. I hope you find what you need the most at a time like this.

Peter,

I have only known you in your simming help on this forum only over the last couple of weeks and to think that in all of your pain at home, you were still kind enough to help idiots like me who have nothing to worry about other than modding their game.

Cherish the memories, stay strong and may she rest in peace.

Sincere condolences; my own family and I have suffered our own loss recently. No matter how much time we have with our loved ones, it never seems like enough. Although we haven't spoken much, feel free to PM me if you need to talk.

I just found this and it has left me deeply affected.

We don't know each other very much but please accept my sincere condolences.

Both my mother and my aunt have had to deal with this terrible disease, the last one died at the age of 19.

At least you have been able to enjoy each other for 50 wonderful years.

A big hug and a lot of encouragement Peter.

Nothing anyone can say will help. My thoughts are with you though.

I wanted to give a quick update.

Peter ( TheBerbster ) and I exchanged messages yesterday and he says he is doing well but the distancing thing is difficult for him..

Peter also said that he isn't in the forums right now but that he does check his messages.

Peter does so much in the forums and Subsim as everyone knows from technical assistance to welcoming new people here. Peter is one of the good guys.

Feel free to send him a private message if you like as this is a difficult time for Peter and I'm sure will be for some time to come.

Peter also wanted me to wish " all the nutters " in Subsim the very best. By nutters, I wonder if he meant Eichhörnchen (https://www.subsim.com/radioroom/member.php?find=lastposter&t=246089). :hmmm:
