Let us not forget there are democracy movements in China and other totalitarian countries, even if we (of course) do not hear from them.

"The only high-ranking politician who has ever commented on this is the former head of state and party leader Jiang Zemin, most recently in an interview with Mike Wallace from the American television station C-Span in 2000:
"I have instructed people in the security authorities to use their entire networks to find out where this young man has gone. After a month-long investigation, I can safely say that this man was not arrested."
said Jiang Zemin."
Oh i am sure you have "instructed the security authorities to find the young man", and when they found and shot him he was not arrested indeed. Chinese dialectics at work.

Of that I have little doubt.

Estimations of murdered civilians range widely. Usually claimed to be between some hundred and some thosuand, some estimations reach as high as to 10 thosuand and even 30 thosuand. I usually quote the latter, for i think that there si widespread self restraint in the world when reporting baout China and an unadmitted subconscious will to not enraged the big leaders in Bejing too much. In the end, for the arugmen tit doe snot matter whether it were 3000 dead, 10 thsoandm, or 30 thousand - any such number shows what murderous villain and what an uncivilised barbarian power the world is dealign with in China.
Rememvber Tibet. Remember Uigurian reeedcuation camps. Remember over 60 other minorities that by definition of th eterm de facto get brutally "genocided" and culturally - and often individually - erased.
We have seen this again when Covid 19 broke out, the long weeks when China denied an dlied, and chnaged statistcial mehtods to gloss over its numbers. They still do so with the secone dwave they are experiencing. The WHO praised the great efforts of China in delaing with the pandemic very early, but they did that out of frustration and in hope that appeasement of this kind would lure Bejing to hand over data that the WHO at that early time alreaey knew to not have gotten from Bejing. As we know, the hope did not pay out, and Bejing instead opted for killing tens if not hundreds of thousands of peopel around the globe that maybe would not have needed to die if reactions would have been faster if China had released data earlier, and correctly. They still do not do that.
Take off the satin gloves. We need to relaise that china neither is our friend nor a possible ally. its an enemy. And it is murderous. In earlier times their actions would have been reason to declare war against them.
