Because of the new SAM (Surface To Air) missiles
ive added 40 brand new audio recordings
and redone over 17 other existing Audio Tracks too
reworked huds also to accommodate new weapons also General improvements
And have added over 14 missing ships to the various signature lists too
also other new Features you will see on Release
because ive added so much new content im testing all mod elements more then usual before release ->->->->
im also splitting my attentions between this and CWA hence my slower Release time

These tweaks are amazing. The English voices are up to a similar level of quality as the Russian voices. The echo makes commanding a submarine more realistic than the vanilla voices.
However, the voices for firing and holding fire of surface ships' guns also gets changed to your voices even if the language is set to Russian.
However, the sounds for naval guns are a step back from the vanilla sounds. American 5-inch gun sounds are really wacky. It feels like you're hearing a muffled RBU-6000 launching while the shell fires. You also hear a shell hitting the deck each time the gun fires.
The same also applies for most Russian 5-inch guns. The only ones that sound decent are those of the Sovremmeny and Sverdlov.

First off thank you for Downloading the Mods
as for your points :
1.) my mods are Purposely Designed as a English Version of epic mod as their are loads of extra features that were in the Russian Version but not the English Version So from day 1 these were made as a English Versions ONLY
that not only matched the Russian content but exceeded it with extra features and content
if you play epic mod with out my mods you will notice a vast difference when set to English settings
this is totally understandable tho as it was made by Russians for Russians in Russia
the fact they even added a English version was kind of em as it took extra work and loads of translation efforts to do it on their part
im very aware of this as i know EM very well as ive gotten to know it very well while making my various mods for it
if i was to do a Russian EMT version that would double my work load and like them i would face language barriers on text & speech translation and recording audio stuff
i simply do not have the time
2.) guns
well theirs a couple of issues first a load of the clips i got had like yours wind sounds & voices or other undesirable noises on em so the recordings were not good to use so made what i could in the time i had
second certain guns are not linked right ect

this ones simple they haven't added separate vls caliber weapons or made a vls CAL tube for the huds like i do so it is 533 in-effect
so that is not a over sight its the best i could do that is set within EM atm
they have done this for a few reasons VLS in epic mod is :

countermesure tubes
ect

Vanilla Epic Mod will introduce real sounds for AK-100 and AK-130 according to this post on their VK page (https://vk.com/wall-165613870_22651), so you can leave those untouched in future versions of your mod.

I am interested in Cold Waters. Should I begin with the epic Mod from the start or with the base game? Does the mod change the base game vastly or does it only add things? Is the game more difficult with the mod?

What are the meanings of the different colors?
Are some missions easier than others? Any recommendations for a newby?
Which submarine is best suited for a beginner?

Okay so I don't know what it is but every time I play, the game will run great with no lag or issues for about 10 - 15 minutes, then I get huge lag spikes and the game pretty much freezes, ill get like 1 frame every 30 seconds and it just basically stops the whole game. Half the time I end up just closing the program and restarting. Anyone else have similar issues? I tried googling the problem but havent found a solution yet.

Hello. There's your problem. Take everything in that folder and move it one folder down "common\Cold Waters" and try installing again. Your folder path should look like this:

If you’re looking for something similar to EpicMod, but uses more realistic stars, I recommend DotMod. Instead of being biased towards certain countries and capabilities, DotMod tries to use as close to real stats as possible. The ADCAP is still the king, but there are several Russian torpedoes that follow close behind.

Okay so i understand from the changelog they did some work on the whole wire break deal.
However, i have a few installs of cold water. The reason is i have edited a lot of text files, so i have an install for russian navy, american navy, super sim hardcore mode, and then like an arcade mode.
All the other installs i use i dont mind the wire break stuff. Its legit and just part of the game to even the balance.
However, in the "arcade" mode version i have installed, i have the wirebreak setup to where the wires just dont break. I can launch a spread, and then haul ass across the map and reposition, and in the past before the newest epic mod release ( august 5 2021 relase.. the lastest one i think 2.32 )
Anyways, now once i move my sub, the wires break.. period. I have gone in and checked out my text files for this "version" of the game i have setup, and the wirebreakthreshold i have set is like for 1200 knots. Everything in this "arcade mode" install i have moves much faster. Boats move faster, weapons, etc.
I basically made a version of the game that is super arcadey.. where you can just go in and shoot up and blow stuff up. Its for when i only have like a half our or so to play, so i can jump in and sink some stuff.. and like fill the urge i have to play the game without setting aside like 2 hours to play a super sim-style game.
Anyways, again the newest epic mod they changed the wire break stuff. now, no matter what i edit in the .txt files, the wires break as soon as i steer my sub to another course maybe.. more than 15 degrees or so, and as soon as i increase speed they break too.
Doesnt matter what i put in the .txt files, so im wondering if there are any devs out there or anyone familiar with the newest epic mod release and setting up the wirebreakthreshold value to one that makes the wires basically never break. Sure its a cheat of sorts, but again its for an arcadey version i play and now no matter what i edit or do, the wires break.
And in all honesty, they break in the regular installs of the epic mod FAR easier than past releases of the epid mod.
So id hate to roll back and go to the previous mod revision because the newest revision also lets me play many other subs in campaign mode than just the like 3 i was given in the past. So that along with alot of the new features kick ass and i dont want to roll back because ill lose those features.
But i really would like to know where the new settings for the wirebreakthreshold across the game are.. and if they are editable? This is usually done by vessell, but it seems now there is an overal setting for wirebreak that seems to override whatever the vesells settings are.
So, hope that makes sense and hope someone can help me out.

There are two places for wire breakage...in the weapon.txt itself (for individual weapon)and the config file. I wish I could tell you HOW they work together but I simply don't know.

When i first Saw Epic Mod I was Amazed and Still am at the Vast Improvement's its brought to Coldwaters ive modded it since Version 2.11 to 2.28
Its True that some of Epic Mods Original Members have now formed Dotmod and given this some of Dotmod Stuff is due you .....
However the work and efforts of DotMod Members that were never ever anything to do with EPIC Mod you most Certainly DONT have any rights Or Claims too .....
If people just take what they want this will Discourage people to share files and Work which will hurt us all In the long run

hmmmmmm...this is a dilemma...atleast for me it is. I'm not happy having to choose between the two, I'd be happier if they would work at combining the best of both into one. But not knowing the circumstances between the 2 groups makes my opinion mute. I mean they(DOT)gave everyone permission to build on their work as long as credit was given...BUT...not too EPIC?? Epic has supported advancement in this title for along time now ,and I think people are loyal to that commitment. On the other hand people are also up in arms about Epics move to include DOT assets(but credited I assume). Dot contributors are angry and have made that very clear. It's a sad situation all round. I'm fortunate enough to have the time and where with all to make CW what I want it to be for me, while most CW players don't. I say ignore the turf war...play the game that suits you...hope they work it out in the end.
Ok, first, I love the mod. Awesome! I love all the added subs. The fact that I can't survive more than a few missions . . . eh, I just need to improve.
Question though, What movie is shown as the opening scenes for the mod? I think I might like to see it.

Well that is quite horrible.
I´m sure that a collaboration could have been achieved if the maker of the Epic mod wasn´t such a C*** about this.
I´m curious to see how the Dot Mod will be developed further.
I guess it will surpass the Epic Mod easily if it continues with such a speed.

DotMod is a stolen copy of Epic Mod, to which they have added their own developments and are now trying to present it as their own mod. 95% of ship and boat files are stolen from Epic Mod, 100% of awards are stolen from Epic Mod, half of weapons and parameters are stolen from Epic Mod. Hi just a few Qs. Which HuD option am I supposed to use? There seem to be buttons new buttons new methods, and I don't know if i'm setup properly. Also how do you work with heli's? Is there a pdf guide or a reference for this mod I should look for?

Hi,
first off, a huge thank you to all the authors of this wonderful mod. It really brings CW to a whole new level!
Secondly, I'd have a question about land stike missions: long story short, I've been already assigned a couple of times to these in my Akula 1984 Atlantic Map campaign.
Now, every single time I've tried these missions, it always goes like this: one (or more) of the enemy ships runs aground and I can't sink them anymore, as they're in too shallow waters and even wire-guided torpedoes hit the sea bottom before reaching them.
So, when I fire missiles at the target (Holy Loch, in this case), many of them get shot down by that ship's anti-missile countermeasures, even if I position my sub between the ship and the objective and get as close as possible to the target.
Is this a known bug? What can I do in order to complete this kind of missions succesfully? I thought about loading something like 20 missiles (instead of the required 8) to account for possible losses due to interception, but this is obviously not an ideal solution (nor does it even guarantee that enough of them won't be shot down anyway).

Can someone explain me in a few sentences what this Mod is all about?
I see many Bug Fixes but no Description for an overall Goal or something like that.

This mod is about stealing the work of others, claiming that work to be original to EpicMod, and when confronted, claim the victims of the theft are thrives themselves, with no evidence.

In the latest Cold Waters Epic Mod 2.33 fix3 (update 30.10.21) the Australian Collins class SS submarine home port is not base in US Washington, their home port is mainly base in Perth, Queensland and Darwin.
Australian Collins class SS naval operation patrol is mainly around the Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, Malaysia and in the Philippines, they can travel to Gulf of Thailand, South China Sea and Philippines Sea, also they've done wargames naval mission patrol around the Yellow Sea and the Sea of Japan with South Korea and Japan many years back in the pass.
Because the Australian Collins class has never reached or done any naval patrol in the North and South of Atlantic, hopefully in the near future when the Australian received their first nurclear power submarines they'll be able to do any naval mission patrol anywhere around the world.
I would like to have our Australian warships and subs located to their original home port in Australia and not mainly base in US.

but i only contribute to that not a team member so not sure what you getting at
my Currently released stuff for DM & Em are add-ons not replacers so the mod still controls load times ect
my older projects i abandoned as i knew id not be able to release em to the quality i wanted and other real world matters took priority so i simply didn't have enough time

my posts were only on subsim and were over 24 separate images under construction or consideration or modification
that quad image is made up of some of my separate posts and wasn't made by me but did use some of my images so no idea who made it
i stopped work on a few projects many months back due to family matters
so any other posts you have seen that are not subsim isn't done by me to be clear on this matter only other thing I've recently used is discord

Recently DL'd Epic Mod 2.33. Been running some quick missions, mainly cold war era ASW.
Elite difficulty, 1:1 scale and time. Playing a Riga FF against cold war era US subs, either a Skipjack, Permit, or Sturgeon. I'm going along at flank speed 28 knots and yet somehow I'm still able to passively track a US sub - a Sturgeon most recently - that's idling along at 5 knots, below a layer, and at more than 15 kilometers away? He's too far away for active, even when I'm stationary.
These are the only kind of custom single missions I've run and the result has been the same every time. Reliable tracking of silent running US subs at impossible ranges, with the surface ship moving at speeds that should render it blind.
Also, forgot to mention; US subs are firing torpedoes seemingly at random, in any random direction, with the torps going in a snake pattern as soon as its fired.
does anyone have any old versions of epic mod hosted?
im trying to upgrade from 2.26 and have downloaded latest version of 2.33 r3 - the epicmod installer is not included nor when i copied the files that are included over it hasnt updated it

If you look very closely at the Epic mod game and the mission layout you'll see a lot more Russian than the US, British, France, Canadain and Australian Naval fleet misson, on the other hand DotMod really need to catch up against Epic and the way I see it.
He's just collecting the data to expand the Russian fleet and mission.
Would you agree....... Epic mod is Russian and he's catching up... DotMod is falling way be behind on their own fleet.

Epic keeps on stealing models from Dot Mod. He has so many more units because he uses similar ships for those positions. He previously had Russian landing craft under an American flag for the NATO side and then when DotMod came out with new models, he took them.

This is not the point of DotMod. Instead of copy and pasting by the same subs just to create new content that often ends up being ****, they take their time to ensure that it’s quality and it works as intended. Also the gameplay is better, and a lot of the mechanics and improvements that EpicMod uses have been taken from DotMod, and there are some that haven’t been stolen yet.
If you’re just looking for loads of bull**** content to play, EpicMod would be best. But if you want a mod that feels like it’s a real, quality update to the game, that would be DotMod.

Due to an ongoing dispute between Epic Mod and the Dot Mod development groups in regards to asset theft among other concerns, it is hereby ordered that discussion of both mods is hereby suspended indefinitely. Threads related to either will be closed non-punitively unless determined to be in direct and deliberate violation of the topic spamming rules.
