Query about SubSim Donations?

Since I am likely to be comparing and trying some of the Mega mod packs which can be quite bulky, I thought I would have a look at the Donations options as shown on the "Make a Donation" page but I was quickly confused about the cost and renewal frequency.

Just looking at the USD prices I see we first have the $5 for 3 months (recurring). Next is the $10 for 6 months (recurring).

I am unsure if it is "$5 each month for three months then it recurs" or if it is "$5 once only and it recurs after 3 months" because if the latter is the case, there does not appear to be any difference between the "$5 for 3 months" and "$10 for 6 months".

Please could someone who understands the structure clarify for me?

$5 for 3 months, so you pitch in $5 today, you are a subscriber from May 27 until August 27. A week before your renewal date the forum will send an email reminding you that your subscription is coming to an end and give you the option to cancel.

Yes, the option for $10 for 6 months is the same cost to you, but committing to the $10 amount gives you a better subscriber level, Captain vs First Officer.

Got it, thanks. A flat rate of $5 a quarter, just choose how many quarters you want to donate in advance.

Oh, I know how the downloads add up, trust me! My mods over on the Skyrim Nexus are about 450Mb in file size and have been downloaded just over three million times between them.
