I must have at one time looked at Total Anti Virus, I may have installed it but then took it off, I can't remember.
Recently I got an email saying my payment will be due on such and such date and it would be deducted automatically, I went on my PayPal and sure enough there was a reference for it, I then realised I must have either left or ticked off the little box allowing them to do it, again I can't remember.

So I disabled the payment and contacted them saying I don't have the software on my PC any more and please unsubscribe me etc.
I got a reply saying it advisable to have an AV because of nasty things etc, I replied and said I already have one but thank you.

Today I got an email saying they couldn't take payment and it hadn't gone through when they tried to take it plus again telling me I should have an AV.

I didn't reply back but it is annoying when these companies won't accept NO for an answer and persist by keep knocking on your door.

I remember a few years ago I went on my PayPal for something and got looking in my account and saw I was making an annual subscription for some software I didn't even recognise the name, I stopped the payment straight away, again it might have been that little tick box allowing them to take payment or me agreeing to it without realising.

I usually look for things like this when installing software but these must have slipped through the net, same they install a toolbar on your browser if you don't accept it, then spend a day trying to get rid of it, anyway rant over lol.

The simple positive being....you have identified the problem and stopped it.
