View Full Version : Naval Academy, Naval Artillery Secondary Objective does not complete?

I just started playing Silent Hunter 3 for the first time, and currently doing Naval Academy.

During Naval Artillery exam, I sunk all 5 merchants as per instructions, and got 5 radio confirmations for all those sunken ships.

This is the second time I'm trying to complete Naval Artillery, because last time I missed the fastest ship for a long time, and had to search it for an hour before sinking it. I though that's why I didn't get Secondary Objective last time, but now I got the same problem, "sink all merchant ships" is not completing.

Is this a bug, or am I missing something? I am running Silent Hunter 3 with GWX 3.0 Gold, Thomsen Sound mod, Manosenvironment Pro v5 green water, Radio England, and Radio Deutschland.

This is bugging me, because I want to 100% Naval Academy before starting my career.

This is not a Bug, it is a Feature. As for starting a Campaign in GWX the Academy is irrelevant. Manual_V3.0_Final.pdf Page "102" under "Initial Renown Points".

[8<--]I see two options (for this Training-mission only): Go back to unmoded original SH3, or change the Tonnage needed in that Academy-mission. (With the Help of JSGME JoneSoft Generic Mod Enabler)
Wait until you got into the next AA AntiAircraft Flak Artillery-training to see if you got it also 100%.

Greetings.

Alright, I'll see what happens with AA Flak Artillery exam. I should've done Naval Academy before installing GWX, but at this point I'm probably not going to bother uninstalling and installing again.

I do have JSGME for managing mods, but not sure how to change tonnages with it.

Thanks for replying

Yes, without ever seen the original SH3 it is hard to estimate what they have done in GWX. What the difference is. This Flak-training is one of the best examples, since the GWX-devellopers have nothing changed in it.
If you go further with SH3 i still believe this was not the last install. After the next one make a copy of the install-directory.

JSGME is the best tool to keep track of all Modifications. Only after this you can go also easily one step back if something goes wrong with your mod wihout a complete new installation. Keep in mind: never ever change files directly in your SH3-installation. Always use JSGME for changes.

In this Atillery-training it would require only a change of two Numbers in two lines. As these Training missions are all ordinary text-files this can be done with "Notepad.exe". But to me it makes no sense to change it, before the other Missions ar done also 100%. I mean, when the requirement is "100% Naval Academy". :03:
I think, this Flak-training is the hardest part.

Greetings.

GWX has reduced Tonnage of these ships somewhat.
15000 cannot be reached.
13000 would be ok for GWX v3.0.

Yeah, I just went straight to GWX once I started playing the game. JSGME is definitely a great tool now that I know how to use it, makes it so simple to install and uninstall mods.

Thank you very much for the Naval Artillery fix, I went and changed 13000 for tonnage now, and I'm probably gonna do the exam again. I need the training anyway!

I tried Flak Artillery in training already, and it seemed really hard to hit the last two Spitfires. As you said, I'm thinking it's gonna be the hardest exam in Naval Academy by far.
