Guten morgen kaluens!:Kaleun_Salute:
so in light of ahem ahem a certain beer virus:Kaleun_Wink:
i've got enough time in my hands to reinstall sh3, this time. correctly.
last time didn't go to well because i was wanting a lot of visual mods for immersion :Kaleun_Salivating:
buuut they didn't work.
i'm sadly not too computer savvy but i can follow simplish instuctions! so woohoo!:Kaleun_Applaud:
playfullness aside.
i run windows 10 on an average enough PC and have the steam copy of sh3.
could i get a few guidances for downloading sh3,gwx,jsgme correctly to work well for mods. and if possible a few tips for anything hidden that needs to be done with mod installations.
so far i have the order of buisness
install sh3
install gwx
install jsgme
then mods
i do know there's a few nuances about steam sh3 that requires a specific install path to make mods function right/and or function at all

try make it as understandable as possible for me. for i'm a bit weak in the ol' coder/computer tongue

i would really like to get back to to seas with some nice mods. them brits need a good thrashing yar har! :lurk:

Also just a side thing. i saw something about a bdu campaign for wolfpack i assume this is a formal gathering of people to arrange multiplayer patrols? interesting. a lovely thing is subsim!

I'm not familiar with SH3 and steam, but you can install jsgme anytime you want. Order doesn't matter as long as it's obviously done before you want to add mods.
Wolfpack has it's own forum section at the top of the forum page. Everything you need will be there.

I just wanted to back up that observation. JoneSoft Generic Mod Enabler is a tool that works outside the game to store the mods you want to use and enable or disable them at will.

Next time use JSGME, and install mods one at a time and be sure to test. If you don't like testing things over and over then you should choose a supermod and stick with it. That way someone who knows the mod inside and out ha already tested it for you. I laid on some similar advice several years ago, though in a somewhat harsher fashion.

The best bet for that will be for someone who is experienced with the Steam version. There are enough players using it now that there are some around who can help

Some people will tell you to keep your games away from the Steam folder, and they are right. It's not just a problem with Steam, or with any other game supplier. In the last few years Microsoft has decided that they don't want anybody going anywhere near their main folders. To get away from this it's always best to locate any program you don't want them to touch far away from those folders. I went one further - I put all my games on a different hard drive. It's easy enough to set up a path to get them their. I know on computer repair guy who has each individual game on its own drive.

I am also unfamiliar with SH3/Steam. I've played the game since its release fifteen years ago, and I play a couple of games that are only available from them, but I haven't played the Steam version of SH3. Hopefully someone will be along who has.
