The positive is, it's almost spring which mean gardening.

Used approx. one hour in my flower garden today...
There's many hours work there before I can say...now it's time to sow/plant flowers.

Thereafter the next job is my kitchen garden-prepare it for different types of vegetable, like potatoes, carrot a.s.o.

Then we have my lawn, it need some extra care this year

Rest of the time i use in front of the tv..watching history program and science program.

In the evening I use my computer to discuss worlds problem with friends and play a lot of simulation games.
(I need a decent Steering wheel with pedal and a decent joystick)

Tons of books here, some not read yet.

Maybe should look into John Seymour's "The New Complete Book of Self-Sufficiency". "He was a one-man rebellion against modernism"
That and Edward Abbey should keep one afloat :03:

Could you take a few steps back, please?...

...and face the other direction, too?...

...and move further in that direction?... :D

Down here in SoCal, we can still walk around if we please, so the chance of getting "stir crazy" or having "cabin fever" isn't really an issue unless a person is one of those sort who just has to be in a group; in fact, its a bit refreshing to walk about and not have to deal with crowded sidewalks or traffic in the streets...

Same here - Red Orchestra: Ostfront (and SH3 ofc). Some old friends from COD:UO days have been popping up on Steam Chat now they are stuck at home.

Also, gardening: just planted lettuce, spinach and so on. Sadly, cannot plant quorn-burgers. Or Lavazza coffee.

A load of people (from Dundee, I think) turned up in the village today, to walk in the park and on the hills: nice and sunny. Can't say I blame them: if you are facing being locked in for weeks in a city centre...

Keeping fingers crossed for aged relatives and friends in Italy... and everyone, really.

At least if we can't be there... we can watch.

The problem is that with my job, there is absolutely nothing I can do remotely.

"So do some online training" is the direction I have

So I have to be sitting at my home computer for 8 hours a day doing online training. That actually sucks a lot.

If I can get it to work, I am going to try to log in to an online PMP training class otherwise it is more US Government work place safety or some such crap.

But at least I am still getting paid which is more than what is happening to a lot of people, so I am one of the lucky ones.

Went out earlier Monday evening to do a couple of errands I'd put off and to recon possible sources of needs; took the local buss to Beverly Hills and found that they are now requiring passengers to board the buses from the rear doors, ostensibly to minimize driver exposure to the public (the drivers are all now wearing face masks); The streets were virtually deserted and Beverly Hills was like a ghost town, a sight I had only seen back in the late 70s when I would leave my office in the wee hours of the morning working late; if there was any consolation, the chain drugstore in BH was stripped as clean as the stores in the much lesser income areas...

Strange thing riding the buses now; people are trying to keep the 6-foot 'social distancing' thing while on the bus, but the confines make it difficult; amusing, though, watching the expressions on passengers' faces when a new rider gets on and starts looking for a seat: [looks at new rider and thinks]: "No! Not the seats around me! Back off!"...

Went out an hour or so ago in the car with the wife due to a tip off there was beer in a certain store (something I consider an essential) and enroute actually saw a mobile Police unit in my rearview mirror.

Shortly thereafter my attention was drawn to (once taught you never forget the art of statement writing) three black male pedestrians and the wife says "Look at them I thought the government lock down limited groups of people outdoors to two"

I replied "It did but don't get overly concerned because this mobile unit behind me will sort it out"

Did it? did it flange. The guys were either blinkered or intentionally avoiding any additional workload.

The moral being....if the authorities aren't going to enforce the lock down then don't put the entire blame on those who blatantly ignore it.

My lock down fun in recent days has been the sales at Steams for the DeLuxe Pack of Dirt Rally 2.

I really love it. For 28 coins I got 13 rally locations with 6 tracks each that are driven in both directions, making that 156 rally tracks driven by day, sunset, and night, in clean and rainy weather; and then 13 rally-cross locations, if one is into that. Plenty of car classes and cars. VR works very, very good. The menu in VR with wheel works like crap, but crap menus are what Codemasters excels in since long time. The driving and looks and the mere content volume of it delivers most escellent bang-for-the-buck ratio.

Excellent package, to be had for smile price in sales ending April 5th.

Yesterday the probably last stage, Scotland, was released. Its a car wrecker, I got mauled up pretty badly, the tracks hate people in cars, and it lets them know. :D As buyer of the DL pack a few days earlier, I got it for free.

I've got a model building project I've been working on for a couple of years, now.

https://cdn3.volusion.com/bmfcy.fjqhr/v/vspfiles/photos/RG7412-2T.jpg?v-cache=1533738074

I call this "the impossible Peterbilt" because the basic kit has been around for a long time. I managed to find the kit on Amazon at a pretty fair price but I already knew there would be many challenges.

Like I said, the basic kit had been around for a long time (its actually a Pete 379 that was equipped for heavy haul loads) and Revel (Germany) had kept the molds in a basement somewhere. The molds have been worn out for quite some time and Revel would just re-release the kit when they felt like it. Really, every part has molding flaws (dirt and dust in the molds) that meant each part required filing, sanding, and polishing.

The kit was well designed but it was well designed in Germany. Meaning, things like engine and running gear detail look great, but they are wrong for an American truck. Luckily, AMT re-released their old school Peterbilt 359 so I snagged one to donate parts. :yeah:

There were other challenges that cropped up during the pre-building phase. The interior of the cab and sleeper came out better than I had hoped (the bunk features a really nifty Mexican blanket and some cabinets I re-purposed from other kits plus a neat coffee maker) and it got me to thinking, which is always dangerous.
What if I added a driver figure and maybe a passenger? That meant finding the right figures and re-learning how paint them.

So, fast forward and things aren't built but many of the sub-assemblies are ready for paint. The engine and running gear are quite detailed and accurate for a "working truck". Things like the "fifth wheel" trailer coupler can actually move like the real article and there's even a trailer or two to hook to the truck. :D Hoses, air lines, and chains are ready. Tires and wheels are ready. The opening doors have been re-designed with working photoetched piano hinges and small magnets to hold them closed.
I finally decided on painting the cab and sleeper in a light blue metallic, overall, to give it a 1980's look and now its down to a decision I keep fighting with. Paint the frame rails semi-gloss black or in a darker "utility" blue? :hmmm:

Really, I can't decide. :o

Thanks to the lock down the kit is now staring at me, as if its saying "Well, get on with it already!".

:D

Hah, nice problem to have

Sry to hear the kit is so bad, cutting, sanding, filling.. it has been some time i built a kit from Revell or Airfix. I found that kits differ very much in cast quality, plastic quality, and details.
I built (or tried) Airfix' B17 two times because i thought that there was something wrong with the plastic material - it was impossible to glue parts together with polystyrene glue, also they would come apart days or weeks later. Second kit was as bad as the first and i gave up, but this was 40 years ago lol.
I found the later ItalAerei models manufactured by someone else but sold by Revell to have a very good quality overall, and then of course there is Wingnuts by Peter Jackson (!!) as the shiny example.

How do you glue those chrome-plated parts, or does one generally use superglue instead of polystyrene glue nowadays?

Whatever, wish you fun and good luck with the project :yep:

ET2SN

How do you glue those chrome-plated parts, or does one generally use superglue instead of polystyrene glue nowadays?

Well, no glue is eternal. :03: Old school model glue tends to break down after several years and that stuff is supposed to dissolve the plastic slightly to form a bond. My 1/350th scale submarine kits tend to go back in for over haul every 4-5 years or so. :D

How do I glue chromed parts? Carefully. :O: "Super" glue is bad for chromed and clear parts, it has a bad habit of leaving a nasty fog in its wake. "Super" glues (cryo's) also have what is known as "ping factor". The bond is strong but its also very brittle, so parts may look solid until they get hit with enough force and they "ping" off and fly across the room. :o What I do with chromed parts is the old school method. Scrape the chrome off the parts where they need to be bonded or painted and apply just enough glue. Tamiya has released some glues recently that have upped the game, well kinda. Their Extra Thin liquid cement is incredible until you figure out its just old-old school Plastruct Bondene, which is nothing more than straight acetone.

BTW, don't get the wrong idea about the truck model. I knew what I was getting into when I bought it and I knew it was going to be a bear and half. That was the challenge, was it still build-able despite its flaws? I also wasn't planning to knock it out in a weekend, rather take my time and figure out how to do some things as I went along. :D

As far as kits go, Monogram were always reliable. Again I go back some years, still got a boxed Mono B-29 kit waiting on the shelf. Built the B-17, 1/48 scale, class, pure class. Even tried Sheperd Paine diorama, never pulled it off. Re purchased and rebuilt it sometime later.

Interest switched from A/C to armour, Tamiya was the way to go, several small scale, (can't remember scale size) their first released high detailed Tiger Mk1 kit, then Their R/C Leopard . Then the kids arrived, and models became a thing of the past, but I still marvel at guys skills these days and how things have progressed.

Great kits all but hella expensive. Then I started drooling at Armortek.

However I'm not yet a millionaire ;)

Tamiya 1/35 just about built them all over the years.

Or springtime:....With a fine pin or needle do the entire front in tiny red & black dots all together in a solid coat to represent the living 1/2" carpet of dead and dying mayflies(they hatch enmass every 7 years or so creating a living blizzard) from a night of drivin' I-40 through Arkansas; the windshield should reflect the wiper arks of blades trying to see through the mess! The flies are attracted to the headlights. The truck stops issued full buckets and long mops to deal with it at the pumps...a miserable task at 02:00 in a 20 hr workday. https://media.wired.com/photos/5926befccfe0d93c474313ff/master/w_1920,c_limit/Potyo.jpg< I recall the codriver declined to do his turn at the mop task....and found is suitcase and a bus ticket back to truck HQ waiting at the pump. I bought the model a few years back.

I haven't started on the airplane yet.

I have plan on building it as pro as possible. I have therefore bought a package of photo-etch to the model. Eduard's Big-Ed for this model was available anymore, so I had to buy them as single package.

At start I went through the parts of the model, this to see if any part would be missing or had got any damage.

Then I bought some paint to the models, brushes and other things, like decal fix.

The only thing I have done so far is glued the weapon together and painted them. Later I will add decal to these bombs, rockets and missiles

There are some more tools I need.

Reading some of the build thread on the internet, have showned me there are some minor adjustment who need to be taken care when building the model.

When Star Trek: the next generation went off the air, the original set for the bridge was housed in a short-lived museum up on Hollywood Blvd. I went to the museum not knowing the set was installed there, so it was a bit of a pleasant surprise. I got to sit in Picards's chair and I resisted the urge to intone "Engage!'...

The Hospital Ship USNS Mercy just docked today in the Port Of Los Angeles and I thought maybe I'd go down to see her, but the news says the ship is under very heavy security and you can't anywhere near it; there is a very wide perimeter set up and they aren't welcoming, as they put it, "looky-loos"...

I went out today to get a few things at the store(s) and all of them have pretty much settled into a process to handle the customers and manage the store inventories. People seem to be going along with the procedures and I didn't see any signs of stress. A local news reporter did relate something she witnessed early on when thing were a bit more chaotic: a guy pulled up to the check out stand with a cart loaded with way more than the maximum allowed by the store policy and, when he was told he would only be allowed to purchase a fraction of his haul, he demanded they sell to him and he pulled out some bills, licked them individually, and slammed them down on the counter. The reporter didn't say what the final upshot was, but I would imagine the store exercised its "We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone" sign, accompanied by the forceful ejection of the cretin...

I have a lot of DVDs I've accumulated over the many years, so I do not want for entertainment; that and the music I have are serving me well...

One thing that occur just yesterday; I got a voicemail message telling me my doctor's appointment for next Wednesday will now be a "tele-visit" and the doctor will "see" me over the phone; at least there won't be a chance of them either drawing blood or injecting me with anything, so as Bill Murray would say, "I got that working for me"...

We miss the meals and socializing that we had before all this started. Mark always has interesting stories to tell as I'm sure you can relate. Also had planned to go to Halifax for Easter to see son and our two young grandchildren. That's not happening. Very thankful for Facetime.

Tomorrow is my daughters birthday so she'll come up to 3 metres away from the door leaving her husband and our granddaughter in their car at one end of the drive and my lad will be in his at the other end.

On the battlefield, snipers often find themselves isolated from the rest of the force for days at a time, if not longer.
With people around the world stuck at home in response to the serious coronavirus outbreak, Insider asked a US Army sniper how he handles isolation and boredom when he finds himself stuck somewhere he doesn’t want to be.

Obviously, being a sniper is harder than hanging out at home, but some of the tricks he uses in the field may be helpful if you are are starting to lose your mind. Not bad for a VERY basic explanation non-combatants can kind of understand.
Drawing sketches of the terrain in your AO goes much deeper though.
Did that piece of brush move a few feet? Could be a Counter-Sniper on the move.

Lots of books on the mind of a Sniper. But I've never seen one that fully explains it. Some say it's in the Genes. Some say it's in the mind set.
I believe it is mostly in the mind and how one controls their thoughts.

I'm anti-social myself.
Only thing I had to cut back on was body tackling idiots on the street.
I think I have enough stuff to build a robot to do that.
Yep. My personal doctor asked how I was handling self-confinement. I said "Are you kidding? They're making me stay away from people and don't talk to anyone except on the computer! I finally get ordered to live the way I've been trying to for ten years now. Now instead of being the apartment weirdo I've become a "good example".

Napa covid count is up to 251 as of today in the 'resurgence'; 112 are active with 1 death a week ago- that that now totals: 4. Masks, no dining or casual shopping, sailing or family gatherings. My wife and I celebrated her 66th birthday and Father's Day simultaneously, at home alone-no kids...as I wickedly pointed out "being 66 is an underlying condition" and ran for cover!:O:
