Col Alfred Merrill Worden died on 18 Mar 20 at the age of 88.
He was part of the 1966 NASA Group 5 astronaut selection
He only flew one mission -- Apollo 15
He was the the Command Module Pilot for Apollo 15. During that mission, he became recognized as the most isolated human when his Command Module reached 2,235 miles from where the Lunar Module was located.
He also performed the first deep-space space-walk on the return to earth portion of the mission.
