I have Windows 10 and a original CD version of silent hunter 3. If I try and load it what foreseen issues am I gonna run into in regards to basic patches and such.

Hey there,

I am fairly new to Silent Hunter 3 myself, however I did just manage to successfully install and patch my particular version. Regarding what difficulties you might run into, the first will most likely be compatibility. I would suggest installing SH3, and then running it in compatibility mode for Windows Service Pack 2. You may also need to run SH3 as an administrator.

The game should launch at that point, however you will notice it won't be at your native resolution. If you have a widescreen, you will need to look further into some mods to fit those resolutions.

Are you interested in using mods? If so, are you aware of which ones you would like to install? I ask due to the fact that the process of patching and possible complications will depend on what you are planning to install. Also, have you attempting to install and are encountering a specific error?
