NYC subway thief thanks Democrats after his 139th arrest, release: 'Bail reform, it***8217;s lit!' (https://www.foxnews.com/us/new-york-bail-reform-law-nyc-subway-thief-thanks-democrats-139th-arrest)

A New York City man who's now been arrested 139 times thanked Democrats for guaranteeing his immediate release despite repeatedly swiping hundreds of dollars from unsuspecting subway commuters since the state's new bail reform law went into effect Jan. 1.

Charles Barry, 56, has been arrested six times since the start of this year. He's been released each time without having to post bail under New York's new bail reform law since his alleged offenses were nonviolent, the New York Daily News reported. In the past, Barry's served several stints in state prison and has a lengthy record, including six felonies, 87 misdemeanors and 21 missed court hearings, the newspaper reported, citing court records.

'Bail reform, it's lit" Barry yelled to reporters Thursday outside the NYPD Transit District 1 headquarters in the Columbus Circle station before officers transported him to Manhattan Central Booking. "It's the Democrats! The Democrats know me and the Republicans fear me. You can't touch me! I can't be stopped!"

No fear of stop and frisk here, no sir. Let's make sure this man can vote November.

Not covered by any mainstream news, of course.

He is going to be sentenced for his crimes, whether he walks free without bail or waits in jail for the sentencing. Considering he has committed 133 crimes prior to the Bail Reform taking effect on January 1st this year, I'd say the problem is something else than the reform in this case.

Out of curiousity: What makes Fox News not mainstream media?

Fox news is an unashamed Murdoch - Bannon right wing conspiracy boondoggle without credibility, and thus reserved for a certain non-mainstream audience :O:

edit google for "subway thief thanks .." you get 4.650.000 results (in 0,31 seconds b.t.w.) in as much newspapers though..

That is just a common mistake in the way the leftwing/progressive/Trump hating media is refered as. They may even do it themselves in an attempt to be more relevent and self important.

In actual fact Fox News is watched by more people that CNN or MSNBC. It's not even close. So yes Fox News is mainstream. It's just not left wing mainstream.

Some middle Eastern countries can be very backwards. However, certain countries like Iran and Saudi Arabia, if certain conditions are met, will cut off the hands and / or fingers of the thieves. Iran has built machines to amputate the fingers of thieves or adulterers. Saudia Arabia will just cut off your hand. I don't think either of these countries have " sticky finger syndrome" problems. :03: I think in some cases, this might be a good thing to institute. :yep:

^ that would sure scare some wannabe-thieves away, however what to do with this man? He has been caught 139 times, he does not look like the brightest of thieves.

On the other hand, if you introduce this sharia here, what to do with him after losing 10 fingers, and/or two hands after 12 shop liftings :hmmm:

^ While that may be true, it's hard to argue with it's value as a deterrence:yep:

I'd say the problem is something indeed and the bail reform is not helping. Ask the man, he's an expert and he thanked the Democrats.

This is just how things are here now, criminals have free reign. This guy would probably agree.

On Oct. 20 last year, he rang his neighbor’s doorbell and punched the woman in the face and kicked her several times, the sources said.

Four months earlier in June, he went into a deli on West 135th Street and slashed a deli worker in the neck, police sources said.

Prior to those two incidents, Young was arrested in March 2015 for criminal possession of a loaded firearm and spent a little less than two years in an upstate prison.

He was released on parole in April 2017.

All this whining about gun control and we let criminals off the hook easy.

Oh boy, here's another wonderful guy (https://abc13.com/5940518/) that the justice system set loose on us.

A man given bond for murder is now charged with another murder and officials can't find him.

Gerald Washington is on the run after tampering with his GPS monitoring device, according to officials.

It goes back to May 2018. Washington was granted deferred adjudication, which is similar to probation, for two counts of burglary to a building.

His conditions were amended several times after he allegedly violated them.

Then, in October 2018, he was charged with murder and two aggravated assaults.

Court records state in October 2017, he got into a car and shot three women, killing one of them.

One of the victims told ABC13 she barely knew him, and doesn't know why he started shooting.

She said she was shot between as many as seven times. Washington was charged in October 2018 for those crimes.

"When you think about it, here's someone who's on probation, deferred adjudication, just another form of probation, one of the primary rules and conditions of deferred adjudication and probation is not to violate any laws of society," explained Andy Kahan with Crime Stoppers of Houston. "Being arrested for not one, not two, but three violent offenses generally means you violated those conditions of your probation."

Despite that, a judge later gave Washington a $200,000 bond, which he made, and was required to wear a GPS monitoring device. Even then, there were violations along the way.

For example, court records show he tested positive just two weeks on "January 30, 2020 for amphetamines & methamphetamines (non-violent offences, that's ok --Neal)."

While out on bond, police said he committed another murder this month. Then, according to officials, he tampered with his GPS ankle monitor and is currently a fugitive at-large.

Somehow it seems wrong that the report declines to name the judge.
