View Full Version : Ware ends when at sea, what happens next?
In my final war patrol in LSH 2015, the war ended when I was ashore, between patrols. What happens in the various mods if you are at sea and the war ends?
Historically, boats at sea were ordered to surface, fly a black flag and make their way to an Allied port, and to cease combat activity. I am not sure what boats that were closer to an Axis port were ordered to do.
What happens in the various mods players here are using? For example, NYGM, GWX, WAC, etc?
I, for one, would prefer to go to a cushy POW camp or make my way to the Heimat, rather than take Hitler or Bormann to Argentina.:har:
In basic silent hunter 3, I did this very thing to see what would happen.
I got the order to stand down and the "my U-boat men" message from doenitz, but it did not contain any follow on instructions about where or how to surrender. Just the historical message on the correct day.
I purposely stayed "at sea", and the basic game let me go until the day/date said July 1, 1945, and the time was 00:01 hrs, when the game kicked me back to the desktop. I tried relaunching the game and once again, 00:01 hrs, boom, desktop.
That convinced me that there is no game past July of 1945, so make for a German port before that time.
I went up to Portsmouth, and a British destroyer nosed up to us for a look, and although he was still flagged a hostile red, he took no aggressive action against us. U847 was on its way back to Wilhelmshaven when the crashes occurred, so I didn't have enough time to sneak back to base.
I'm no expert on what the mods have done over the years, they may actually allow you to stay out for as long as you have the patience for.

More or less been my NYGM and GWX experience too though more often than not, I'm between patrols as K-61 mentions.
