So first of all, i would like to apologize for asking annoying questions again. I'm just in the mood for learning every little detail of the game now, i gues...

So for my first four patrols i had wind speed of 15m/s constantly and never changing. First i thought it was normal because hey, maybe thats how it is out there on the high seas? (I have never been out so far in real life.) Until i found out that it was indeed a bug. On the fifth patrol things went out of hand with heavy fog without ending.
Now i installed a bad weather fix and so far it seems to be okay... Let's see how it is tomorrow.

However now i want to know what exactly affects the weather and how the system works ingame. Does anybody care to explain? I've read that there is some kind of timer? And how does time compression and saving the game affect it?

My understanding. Maybe correct, maybe not.

1. Loading a saved game resets the weather timer. I.e., if you were x minutes away from a weather change when you saved, you'll now be x + as the timer goes back to "zero" and starts over.
I believe H.sie's weather fix fixes this, maybe Stiebler's too, don't know.

2. I've never noticed tc to affect weather changes in any way.

3. For more detailed info, I suggest you do a search for weather threads with Stiebler as the author or poster in the thread.
I believe he's done more research into it than anyone else.

On a side note, I prefer the stock weather envsim.act file myself. It's weather more closely resembles the North Atlantic weather, including frequency and duration of storms, that I've read about.
But there are numerous fixes if desired. H.sie's and Stiebler's are the best to me.

Hope this helps.

That was indeed helpful. Now with the weather fix installed the weather changes quite nicely. I believe Stieblers was the one. Testing today showed that even tc above 256 did not stop the weather from changing every few days. So at least i can do my long distance travels without having to worry. :salute:
