Hi all

I'm starting to play SH4 for the first time and hope to play with as many realistic settings on as i can cope with, i'm also keen to try some of the mods out. My question is, is it better to play a few campaigns of the vanilla game just to get the hang of things or is it best to just pick a super mod and just dive in? *bad pun im sorry!*

I just basically want to know if playing the vanilla game will get me into bad habits, and which mods would you recommend are beginner friendly?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts. :Kaleun_Salute:

No need to start on vanilla game IMHO.
Dive in any mega mod you want directly!

There are many mods around for SH4, depending wich side you want to play.
For US side, you have TMO (difficult for newbies) or TMOwtw (easier for newbies) or Ralles mod (good for any skill) or FOTRSU (any skill)
For German side, you have OM (operation Monsun) or Dark Waters (OM based with plenty enhancements, CTD free actually) available for any player skills.

The main upside for playing some "vanilla" games is learning the commands/keystrokes/mouse moves required to do basic maneuvers. IMO adding complexity lengthens the learning curve.

If you're returning to the game after a long layoff, a couple of simpler patrols should refresh the muscle memory to let the dive begin...
Good hunting, Kaelun!
