Hi,

Greetings from sunny Malta!

I have been playing TWoS v2.2.17 for a couple of weeks and in spite of unticking Dud torpedoes in the realism settings, I still fire torpedoes which are dud.

Only yesterday I fired 6 torpedoes which were all dud and all this to sink one merchant ship - I ended up sinking merchant ship using the deck gun!

Is there anyway to play TWoS v2.2.17 with no dud torpedoes please?

Thanks in advance

How close were you to the ship? Anything 300 meters or less will not detonate.

Weather can send torps under the keel of a ship as well.

You cannot turn off dud torpedoes in TWoS but this might help
One Ship, One Torpedo v1.00 > Enable JSGME (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/downloads.php?do=file&id=3366)

Are you using impact fuse? If so, what angle are your torpedoes striking the target ships at? Shallow angles would produce extremely high chance of dud. If you know you have to do a shallow angle shot then try to use magnetic fuse instead. But early war, magnetic fuse is problematic so might not help you out either.

Magnetic fuse is best for close distance when the ship is right in front of your face.

Don't forget to set the depth, the magnetic torpedo doesn't actually have to hit the ship but sail underneath and then explode.

My average depth setting is 4.5/4.7 for normal sized freighters and 5.0/5.5 for larger tankers.

Even if everything works dandy, there is still another issue with magnetic fuse. After the 1st hit, the ship would take on water and its depth becomes unknown depended on how fast it is taking on water. So you still need impact fuse from time to time.
