I'm trying to figure how the original scenarios for Silent Hunter were programmed? Did they program them from scratch, or use the scenario editor? I've noticed odd things like convoys fading off the map just before contact, and a carrier group doing the same thing! :arrgh!: Does anyone have a refererence to what ships are in the various groups? Like BB Group, CA Group, CL Group?

Thanks!:ping:

Don't know about original: SH1 Dos/1996.
In SH2 and Destroyer Command the scenarios are defined in the scenario definition file .sdf . They could be built in an editor or the entire scenario including groups, convoys etc could be built from scratch using a simple txt editor.

From the definition file TypeAbrev:
BB, battleship
CA, cruiser
CL, light cruiser

I've read that about SH2 Scenarios! Does SH2 have a scripted Campaign engine? :arrgh!:

Thanks Vox65!

SH2 & DC :are Scripted missions and linear campaigns. However, these have random/dynamic elements that can keep things interesting. Neat thing is: you can design your own and only limited by your imagination. I remember building a .sdf for DC involving an early morning attack of US PT boats on a disabledJapanese cruiser-I had as much fun designing as playing it. Vox
