Neither Russia nor China nor the US are Greenland's or Denmark's friends. Theyx all have interests there that go against Denmark's/Greenland's sovereignty rights.

I just do not see the Danes having the means to seriously defend Greenland if one of these major players decides to play nasty: militarily or poltically or elsewise. If one of these players decides to no longer by the rule of international law, like teh chiense in the South Chinese Sea for example, then the Danes have a very huge problem. NATO might help in case of Russia or China - but if it is the US that wants a big bite of it: what then?

It increaasngly shows - to me, at least - that NATO has overlived itself and needs to be replaced with a new dfeence union: without Turkey, and without the US. Cooperation: yes. Membership: No. Would force Europe to become stronger, militarily. And that alone would alreasdy be worth it. But right now the siogns of the times say right the opposite: This year the Europeans bought more weapons from outside their own defence idnustry than they bought in Europe, and up to 20% than in the year before, when there was kidn of parity. It seems many states in Europe do not trust Euroeaon wepaon and platform systems, which might have something to do with too many chefs standign in the kitchen, having individual wishes and spoiling the brew, and way to much fragmentization in European defense industries. The US has a huge advantage here. In various platform categories, the Americans have just a fraction of model diversity, than the Europeans use.

The Europeans need to find a way to emancipate themselves from the US without allowing single states, namely France, to dominate the new defence structure and related industry. Paris quite clearly aims at becomign the soverign that definse the new potlical and economical goals of the EU. And that can only wreak havoc, because the French wishes all come at the cost of net-paying EU members, to finance the French fiscal status misery.

A united strong EU they want. But under French dominance. Especially in Germany nobody wants to see this.

They don't have.

I guess they hope the other members of EU and NATO will come to their aid.

I think the best way is to lend Greenland to USA, as China did with Hong Kong.

Oh boy, with arctic sea lanes opening up there is great opportunity for money to be made by exploiting untapped natural resources. But Denmark's problems may be too much for them too handle. Because of possible encroachment by other countries. Denmark is going have to expend a huge amount of resources themselves to protect those newly navigable waters with ships and manpower. To make matters worse this new found bonanza off the shores of Greenland may just be what the government of Greenland needs to make a final push for complete independence from the kingdom of Denmark. Of course for access I'm sure the U.S., Russia, France, Germany and or China will be all to happy to help with that.

Guess Denmark should have sold the county of Greenland when they had the chance. Because in the end Denmark will probably end up with nothing.
