Hi,
I just thought I'd mention that after several attempts I got SH5 working with TWOS 2.2.16. I will describe the steps I took for those who have the original DVD or ISO-file. If this thing remains unrepaired then I suggest you get the DVD or ISO-file from somewhere. At least we can play again!
I am not sure if all the steps are necessary but this worked for me.
1. Erased all savegames from \user\documents\SH5. There are several folders in which to erase the savegames.
2. uninstalled UPLAY launcher
3. disconnected the internet
4. installed a clean version from DVD
5. upgraded from a downloaded SH5 1.20 upgrade file
6. installed TWOS 2.2.16
IMPORTANT: Now I didn't get the SH5.exe error after which you only get 8 instances in the generic patcher! Now I got the original 9! I think this is the key.
7. Started the game. It said I need internet connection
8. plugged back the internet.
9. Got an update from Ubi of 550 Mb (sweat, sweat) and after that a display which said service temporarily not available
10. installed UPLAY again
11. Started the game with the SH5.exe file and a new campaign
And it runs smoothly!!
Hope this helps some of you who own the original DVD
