For those of you who complain about long load times in heavily modded games, I recently found a solution: Ramdisk.

Significantly reduces the loading time for games. There is a price though. Your system needs to be RAM heavy.

What the RAMDISK software does is create a virtual drive on your PC. Then you point the drive to your SH3 folder and it loads the folder into memory.

Double click the SH3.exe in the ramdisk and you're off and running.

Yes It's ASUS. No you don't have to have an ASUS computer to use it.( I don't have an ASUS computer)

Yes, it's free. Try it, you'll like it.

You can also create a Ramdisk with Daemon Tools 10. :Kaleun_Cheers:

Many different ways to skin a cat. However you create it, you'll absolutely love what it does for load times.:Kaleun_Cheers:

Thanks for the idea, I will try it with WAC as soon as I finish my current campaign with my custom mod soup for fast loading times.

With 8GB of RAM, I am only allowed 4. And any of my smallest builds are much larger.

Will do, but I still need some weeks to finish my campaign... unless a DD catch me

You'll really want to be RAM heavy. My WAC uses an 18Gb RAM drive. My GWX uses a 9GB RAMdrive. In my humble opinion, you'll want a 32GB or 64Gb of system RAM

If I had 16 Gb, why would I need it in that case?

I may not understand your response. The following explanation is somewhat simplistic, I don't mean to insult anyone.

To explain more fully, I'll take a windows 10 installation as an example.
Windows 10 will use approximately 8Gb of Ram. Anything else running on the computer will of course require some RAM, but to simplify the explanation, we'll just stick with the OS for now.

So you have a Win 10 computer with 16Gb RAM, and you've allocated 8Gb to the OS. Maximum RAMDisk is 8Gb. Trying to create a larger RAMDrive will (or Should) flag an error for insufficient resources.

Keep in mind, when you're running SH3 without a RAMDisk, the OS uses the hard drive as memory - the page file. Transferring data to and from the page file is what makes loading an up to date, heavily modded version of SH3 take so much time.

a RAMDisk isn't a necessity, it's a convenience.
