Cannot say I was a fan of him. Turning away from Europe-critical Gaullism to pro-EU and pro-Euro, quite full of himself, and quite authoritative. When becomig president, first thing he did was authorising needless new nuclear bomb testings, just to show the world that he does not care.

No, for becoming a fan of him there was a bit too much speaking against it.
