Just starting this thread as some sort of log of my upcoming SH3 experience. Since RL has a habit of coming up and overwhelming me at times, and with a new job coming up, I hope this log will allow me to pick up where I left off. That, and to share with the community and maybe get constructive feedback.
With so many UBoat videos flooding my YouTube recommendations, I got to miss my old sim days and after a painful playtest of UBoat, I decided to go back to the SH series and even better, go back to the very sim that started this for me, SH3! I have very many memorable hours of stalking convoys, killing ships, and pissing myself trying to avoid the resulting punishment from the escorts.
I think I played SH3 close after it was released, so 2005-2006 or so and IIRC, no mods. I also did not know 90% of what I was doing, so I hope this will be an even better experience 14 years later. I'm greatly enjoying watching Wolfpack345's YouTube videos and I really like the fact that SH3 with some mods still looks good after all this time!
I just plan to start out with JSGME, SH3 Commander, and GWX for now, keeping mods to a minimum unless there are other mods that you guys would strongly recommend. I just finished a very confusing issue regarding fullscreen settings with SH3, so I hope this mod application process would go much better and smoother.
