I welcome the stubboirn deciison byErdoghan ebcause the controversy he rasied by that sooner or later will force the European NATO members to decide whether they want to alienate the US even more by siding up with Turkey - or want to give Turkey up, which is my preferred choice. Ther growing Russian influence in the region also will need Europeans to look less starry-eyed at it and hopefully grow a sense of more mature realism.
I must hope the Americans do not u-turn on their apparent decision to block the Turks out of the program.
The US and Turkey since twenty years co-author their shared history of growing alienation and drifting part. To formalise the split and throwing Turkey out of NATO, is overdue. A growing fight over the F-35 can maybe help to form constructive next steps to get there.
