I first learned of Hall when I came across a book in the New Books section of a library well over a decade ago; the book, The Wolves at the Door, is a fascinating read about a remarkable life and, at the time, I was amazed no one had thought of making a film out of the story; now. it seems, Hollywood has finally caught up with a story that, if it weren't for the fact it is actually true, they would have been hard pressed to imagine...

thanks for the Hall article. I have quite a few books on SOE so if you have the interest I might be able to find facts that you want.
I used to work in an office that overlooked the old runway they used to fly Lysanders into France. Most of the really famous spies used it.

*** I recommend Ben Macintyres books, especially Agent Zigzag and Double Cross. These are history books, not just fiction. He researches things extremely well ***

And for a really British operation, read Operation Mincemeat by Macintyre.
Absolutely true, and very entertaining in a dark sort of way.
