ok so I really want to download the Wolves of steel mod for SH5 but I have the steam version of the game. I cant seem to figure out how to get the mod to work. So if I but the game on uplay will that be easier to mod? although when I open the game on uplay it opens on steam so am I even able to buy another copy on uplay? also should I get the gold edition or no?

With the Steam version you can update the game to 1.2.0 if not done already. Start the stock game once to check the version. With 1.2.0 install the TWOS mod. It will ask you to do the "Steam Conversion". Answer Yes.

Read the install instructions of TWOS first before installing. Do NOT install TWOS if you don't have updated SH5 to 1.2.0.

I think I did all of that and I still had the base game. But I probably did it wrong. could you show me the links to make sure I do not do the wrong thing

If you start the stock game, what version do you see in the main menu? You need the version 1.2.0 to install TWOS successfully.
I suggest you re-install the stock game and check the version by starting the game and reading the version in the main menu. Then, quit game and come here again.

In the main menu after you start the game, on the upper right.

If it's 1.2.0, then follow to the letter the install instruction of TWOS, and chose to do the 'Steam Conversion' during install.
If it's not 1.2.0, you need to update to 1.2.0 first.

The Steam version of the game, is the latest / greatest, and all you have to do is read the TWoS instructions and go to town - Other than:You might be running into a Windows issue there Piction, if you have installed the game to the default location, which is "C:\Program Files(x86) \Steam \SteamApps \common \Silent Hunter 5\", which Windows will protect from alteration, resulting in incomplete mod activations, no matter how hard you try. Read-up on the subject with Moving a Steam Installation and Games (https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7418-YUBN-8129) on the Steam Support site if you have to move your install. If you don't have a lot of games, it is usually easier to uninstall Steam and then re-install it elsewhere, such as "C:\MyGames \Steam \" etc, or a folder named how you want to name it. Adding a second Library folder is the easiest, if you have another hard drive. I did the copy and paste method, and it took ~forever~ on this laptop, and then you have to set things up correctly again anyway... When you do get it going again, though, do not use the Uplay thing to start the game. Use the Steam Library menu, so that it can go through its licensing checks. You will have to do that at least once before you can do the TWoS mod. THEBERBSTER also has some ReadMe kind of stuff to browse through at SH5 <> TUTORIALS <>HOW TO DO IT <> INFORMATION <> DOWNLOAD LINKS (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?p=2182950#post2182950). Unless you get really serious about subsimming (which you might decide to do) and go with Sober's mod collection, then TWoS is (as far as I'm concerned), the only viable mix of SH5 that is playable... :salute:
