I guess such a huge explosion should have send soundwave around the world or most of it.

It also tells me that one day we probably are going to be hit by a meteor we didn't see coming.

I saw the video's of this event. Pretty spectacular unless it landed on your house.:yep: With all the meteorites and asteroids about, I'm surprised there aren't more events like this.



Our own moon is pretty beat up from meteorites and such and probably just as happy that it's space is relatively calm.

The destruction would be epic, Markus. I saw a science show and although I don't remember the exact number, it was said that a large asteroid exploding in our environment would release destructive energy the equivalent of the Nagasaki bomb x 100, at the very least. That's scary. :o

I remember from astronomy that the dark side remains hidden from Earth but not supposed to be as badly damaged, I think. The lads from Pink Floyd say that the " Dark side of the Moon " is way far out and groovy. Surely, the force would approve. :D

2 hits on the moon were spotted by a telescope last July,2018. Though neither were huge, the flashes from the explosions as they hit could be seen. Takes a bit for the gif to load, but it clearly shows them .

I read this news story as well. I'm not sure if they plan to send a robot or actually send people.

This explosion happened above the earth/atmosphere so it's almost impossible that we or someone could have heard it
