I am not into stage theatre, but he was seen as one of the leading actors in German tongue. He got an Iffland ring,

which decorates the most influential, best living actor in German language for lifetime. the ring if made of iron, with a ring of diamonds. He owned this ring for 23 years. The special thing is that its current owner can determine what other actor should get the ring after his death. They now wonder whom Ganz has selected.
Since he speaks not German, it cannot be Gollum, however.
