TWoS CTD during first load

Hello Everybody,

After playing the base game for some days I thought I would install wolfs of steel.

But during the initial startup, I get the screen alerting that the black screen will last for several minutes. But a few seconds into the black screen I get sent to desktop.

After trying different things, and trying to re-install the mods. I am now re downloading the game from Steam. I did do the steam convert offered during the install.

The only thing I can think of that I did wrong during the install was that the game folder was that all files where not made writable.




The DirectX and .Net versions could not be installed due to newer versions already being installed.

sh5.exe and ubilauncher is set to admin rights.

Anything else I should keep in mind before installing again?

GTX 1060 6GB,
i7-4790k

Edit: This time it worked. Early hours, but the main menu is there :)

Your STEAM download would have to use the STEAM conversion as part of the TWoS installation when it is offered to you.

After installing TWoS and updating your game to v1.2 but before enabling the mods start the game and check that your game will load to the main menu.

Thanks for the replies and welcoming!

I deleted the game folder contents, re-downloaded from steam using verify game files.

Made sure to un-check the read only for all files in folder. Followed install instruction pdf. And it worked.

Now if only I could navigate, there will be good times ahead!

PS: Steam now seem to have game version 1.2 by default
