Cannot use stadimeter while using the periscope?

So I have this issue where I can only use the stadimeter while surfaced and using the binoculars on the bridge, what gives? I have the target locked on, I opened the tdc with the space bar, and I sent the mast height to the tdc after identifying the ship...

Is it with TWOS?
What mods have you activated?
Are you using the little button above the range dial?

You should be able to use stadimeter even without target locked.
If nothing works, you have probably an installation issue, and a clean re-install should solve the problem IMHO.
