New rig, new problem...

Hi all,

Changed my rig because my old one gave up recently ... after more than 10 years of undefeated services.
So now i own an HP Oman with 16 Gb RAM, GTX 1050 TI 6 Gb, I7 3.2 GHz and Win 10 Family.

SH5 runs greater than ever, but SH3...it seems i’m Unable to get any AA at all! :timeout:

I have latest drivers, latest Nvidia inspector, did all i know as per old computer, but no joy...

Even AA maxed out in Inspector, i get plenty jaggy lines.
It seems inspector or Nvidia panel doesn’t control SH3 at all.

Any ideas to get back my AA?

Dumb question, but it is set to "Override Application Setting" or "Enhance Application Setting" in the nvidia 3D control panel for SH3.exe, right?

Override. Even X8 supersampling doesn’t work.

I had a problem a while back where I had two installations of the same program and I wanted different settings for both. Perhaps try to change the name of sh3.exe and add it to nvidia control panel and see if that works?

:hmmm: do you really think i can rename SH3.exe without braking anything in game?

I have SH3.exe in my Nvidia panel, and i’ve Set as my old rig (override/AAX4 multisampling/etc)

I'm not sure. Some programs don't care if the EXE is renamed. I don't know enough about how SH3 is programmed to know if it will work or not. Change it, try to boot up the game, if it boots and works the EXE name is not important. If it doesn't just change it back.

If you're running any mods that require a copy of the EXE to be inside a folder inside the MODS folder (like HSIE patch) then make sure to change that EXE to the same name.

When you add an application to a profile in nVidia Inspector, you have two choices, one is "Application EXE Name (*.exe)" and the other is "Application Absolute Path (*.exe)"

I have found that by choosing the "Application EXE Name" works for me, but "Application Absolute Path" does not work. Check to see which one you've chosen or delete (remove) the applications from the profile and try one, then the other to see if that fixes it.

I have also found that I can rename my SH4.exe just about anything I want and it still works, but when I rename my sh3.exe it does not work.

SH3 is a totally different can of worms to SH5

Yep, tried already everything. No result.

There is something that makes my Nvidia panel and inspector not working at all for SH3... it becomes to drive me crazy :timeout:

WAC5 was plenty of CTD’s on my old rig, but i had nice AA. Now i have brand new rig, WAC5 is running without any CTD but no AA at all...

This new PC has an hybrid hard drive (mechanic 1 Tera and SSD 256 Gb) and WAC 5 is installed on the C drive SSD.

In fact none of my applications are affected by control panel or inspector.
At first i though SH5 was ok, but i can’t change any AA via inspector too.

SH3 image is catastrophic while SH5 is pretty ok.

Installed latest drivers via GE force but no results.

So i understand you can’t have any SH3 AA too, but have you tried to boost the antialiasing with SH5, just to see if it’s exact same problem?

On side note, running SH5 at 2560X1440 kind of solved the antialiasing here. It’s almost perfect.
But SH3...

I’ve searched internet about the Nvidia control panel not working, but didn’t find any probant solution.

ÉDIT: only single thing is working with control panel: FXAA on, it’s a little better. But that’s all.

Hi Fifi , i think i found how to fix horrible AA in SH3/SH4/SH5 , Use Nvidia Inspector to set Antialiasing Compatibility to 0x004412C1 , dont ask how it just works ! :Kaleun_Cheers:

I tried your AA compatibility, and have to say it’s a little better too.

But it doesn’t explain why all the control panel AA isn’t working :hmmm:

For the WAC ship sinking in bad sea, i’ve Never seen it.
And yes you can use Commander with WAC, but there is an add on you must install in its folder.

Don’t Know exactly what i did (did so much...) but my SH3 is now perfect!

The tip that CaptJulius gave me (diabloIII compatibility) might help a lot though...

By the way is it know problem with SH3 Commander that i cant select flotilla i want , as example i cant select 3rd Flotilla in 1941 or 1942 , there just isnt an option to select it.

Yes! It makes it easy to add multiple installs to a profile that works.
I currently have SH4 WOP, FOTRSUv80, SH4TMO/RSRD, and a few others all activated into the same profile.
