Merry Christmas

It was a dark, cold and stormy night.
I was sitting in front of my computer when I heard or I thought I could hear the sound of reindeers and something that sounded like "Ho ho merry Christmas"

Must have been the TV, which was running in the background.

Next day in the afternoon I had to take the bus, and when I opened the door, a parcel was laying on the stairway.

So it was Santa Neal who have taken his Reindeer and his sled and taken a world tour to deliver presents to his members.

It was two present one of them was a cap with the Subsim logo and a some sort of magnet I could put on the front door of my refrigerator.
The word Subsim was on the front of this magnet.

Made me happy.

For us its most precious time for family and Gemütlichkeit and feeling truly at home. And that song perfectly describes it all. The time is magic, still.

Thanks, Sky... here's another one I did to go with it. It must be 20 years or so that I painted a number of these but most were only published once... card publishers have their own ideas about what people want and their diktat nowadays is that we no longer want 'traditional' scenes such as this

That is really good Sky. Thank you. I think that describes it for most of us. Childhood memories and now family closeness. Will be spending this Christmas with our son, his wife and our two young grand children. My daughter and another grandson will join us on Boxing Day. Merry Christmas.

I think my total investment in SHIII having played it for 2 and a half years now. Is the cost of the game on STEAM and the occasional part or something for the computer.

For something that gives hours of enjoyment.

Hope everyone is having a great Christmas / holiday season.

Special thanks to all of the people that have been making mods for this game since.....it started.

Currently running NYGM with ACM core running over that. With big monitors I am OK with the original aspect ratio the game was made with.

PS - I agree, on this time period. Minus the technological knickknacks that we enjoy today (most of which are slowly killing us), I've always felt that this period of time was probably the pinnacle of human civilization. Granted of course the concessions that a) I would dread living there, and b) probably just a few percentage of humanity at that time was able to enjoy it.

PS - I agree, on this time period. Yes, buddy... I've been a professional painter for 38 years now and a lot of my work has ended up on greetings cards... especially Christmas ones. But it is a romanticised view, for sure.

I heard a radio programme the other day about the Victorian "Poor Laws" which suggested that the poor were indeed provided for by a welfare system of sorts, and perhaps had a less hard time of it than writers like Dickens would have us believe. The "Workhouse" offered an income for those deemed able to work and who didn't qualify for aid, but they were separated from their loved ones as a condition of working there in order to persuade them to look for work elsewhere
