View Full Version : My mother was rushed to the hospital yesterday evening.

She complained of severe stomach pains. The doctor who first arrived could ascertain that her oxygen uptake was very low. At the hospital, they also found out that she had fluid in his lungs. The heart, kidneys and liver are fine, so they can not understand why her body is trying to drowning itself. They have put drains into her lungs and have oxygen to support her breathing. Doctors have a strong suspicion that it may be cancer, her lymph nodes near her lungs are hard and swollen.

Makes me sad to get such bad news so close to Christmas. It was decided that we celebrate Christmas at our mother's house this year.

Sorry to hear, Mapuc. I hope it turns out well.
A strong heart is usually a good sign, water only accumulates with too few exercise and a weaker heart. If it really is cancer..
Hoping for the best.

Last year around this time, my father had a light stroke. For a day or so, uncertainty was high for me and my mother. I know how you are feeling, Markus. For the time being, a dose of stoicism may help, and what will be, will be. Have courage.

It makes me warm inside to read your comment, despite what have happened to my mom and our family.

Earlier today I got a text message from my sister saying they couldn't understand why she have water in her lungs.

´cause every medical tests show good results, except her lymph nodes are hard and swollen around her lungs.

and that she need oxygen support.

Thanks again for your support it is appreciated.

Thank you Reece.

We hope she will come home before Christmas. However, we think she will have a portable oxygen bottle with her.

I cross my fingers, in hope they will figure out why.

Had a talk with my mom some hours ago.
She said that they have found
stains on her liver. At first assumption or superficial examination, her liver did not show anything that should cause turmoil. Now, at closer examination they found these spots. She must stay at the hospital and have to go through more testing and examination of her liver.

Said to my mom

My little experience on the human body tells me that problem with heart and kidney can result in fluid in the lungs.

I have never heard of fluid in the lungs due to problem or sickness in the Lever.

I hope for the best for your mother my old man had a similar issue rushed in under similar circumstances unfortunately he passed away last night.

I fully appreciate this will be a tough time and one that is a scary journey, but the best thing that you can do is be there and be supportive regardless of whats going on around you

i hope for the best in your case and wish your mother well :Kaleun_Salute:

That is a hard time for you, no doubt, Kapitan. I wish you strength as well. Let sadness have its right, and give it the time it needs. No use in anything different. With time comes change, yes - but until then it will be tough to bear.

Your mother is still on the saving list ... I pray the doctors know what to do

Sorry about your loss Kapitan ... when my mother died (I was an only child) I was the only one there for her. The chaplin came in while she was in a coma and saw my concern and said something I will never forget. He said, "we are born, we live, we die and that there was no mystery in this".

The real mystery of course is what happens after death and Markus has already started a thread about that event :yep:

Oh I'm sorry to hear that. My deepest condolences to you and your family.

I can tell you after my little sister had text message me, saying she was in the ambulance with our mom and what was wrong with her, I sad the rest of the evening and a bit into the night waiting for the unwanted phone call.
and was of course nervous.

Sometimes its nice knowing my lot had plenty of time to prepare but his decline was very sudden.

The best thing was some one was with her at that moment so she didnt feel alone its times like this when you realise people do care and will drop everything for the sick person.

Spend as much time with your mom as you can not only for support but it lets her know your there and can be counted on and it really is a boost to them little things matter too for my old man it was ice cream and the hospital ice cream was well not nice so ben and jerrys among others that makes the difference too.

my thoughts are with you and wish you the best

Oh how could I forget.

She came home yesterday(Monday) Her vitale test was fine, she can breath by herself now.

Even if she's is fine now, they still want to examine her lungs and liver.

A big stone fell from my heart when I got the news yesterday.

A correction

I was a little to fast earlier today, when I posted my lastest comment.

They have already scanned her liver. She should get the result this week.

I hope it will be sufficient and that she doesn't need more deeply examine of her liver.

Have some good news

Right after Christmas, my mom went through an exam of her lungs, she was under sleep when they did this

Day before yesterday she was told what it was

Sarcoidosis

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarcoidosis

The positive is-they can't find any more of it. Which mean it was a one timer attack of this Sarcoidosis.

From what I understand she has to undergo control of her lungs every second year or so.

And she have gotten a flute-without sound.
She has to blow it this flute as hard as she can and as long as she can three times per day.

Today she is fully fresh again.

Oh Her liver was totally normal.

Check her living style and her living environment (flat) for possible sources of intoxication /infestation. There are strong hints for external agents, germs, mold, fungi etc. being a prominent origin for sarcoidosis. If this is true for the case of your mother as well, you want to find that source.

I guess her doctors have asked and/or have looked into this.

Can't remember when, but when she was in hospital I asked my little sister if she or our elder sister have told our moms doctors that some years ago she had this brain infection(Herpes I think it was)

And from my memory she(my little sister) had told them this.

I Only see my mom a few times per years-I live on an island.
But she see her youngest daughter(my little sister) daily or almost daily, she lives only 5-600 meters from our mom.
And 1-2 per week my elder sister visit her.

I do hope my mom will carry on and do the same as the rest of my moms family

On her side, almost everyone had reach the age way above 80's and above 90's

Except my old grandma and my grandma who died just after they had turn 80(Cancer in their stomach)

Edit:
Was a little to fast. This Old grandma was on my fathers side, she died before I was born
