I just wanted to say thanks to Bl!tzkr!eg for these instructions:

By following steps 5-12 on the 3rd post in that thread, I was able to successfully install SH3 from my old DVD and get it running on Windows 10 64-bit, yesterday. (I already had the 1.4b patch file lying around.)

It really brought back the memories firing up the game after being away ~10 years. :arrgh!:

I wonder why that thread is not sticky!? It has helped me a lot, too!
It is much more useful than all the other threads sticky now.

one thread is even about a flotilla that does not exist!

I've just managed to install SH3 on Windows 10 and now successfully, after many failed attempts to download Grey Wolves Expansion (GW3-3.bin being the offending file), and all works, its been months since I could get near this game.

How did you manage to get GWX working? Mines been a nightmare on windows 10 steam version, it’ll work then crash to desktop randomly mid game or it’ll crash when loading a save.

Hi mate how did you manage to get GWX working? I’m on a windows 10 pc with the game off steam and no matter what I try the game crashes mid mission randomly or I’m unable to load the save.
