Hi all! long time lerker, first time poster.

I have recently gotten back into SH4 after many years away from the game. I have been a bit rusty and did many practice missions with manual targeting to make sure I could at least come close to hitting the target.

To practice I ran single mission games, got close to a target, then saved my progress, then ran attack after attack using the different methods noted on the forums. I printed the attack cards from rock'n'robins o'kane, cromwell and vector analysis methods. I have had great success hitting targets with those methods. I was feeling pretty confident with the manual targeting techniques.

However, after starting 3 campaigns I believe that I may have an error with my game. On all 3 campaigns (starting in early december of '41) I find targets and use every method discussed to shoot a target. The result is always the same. No matter what I send to the TDC when I launch a torpedo is travels 100-200 yds then takes a 45 degree turn to the left.

My last set up was on a freighter using the vector analysis method. I had sent all data to the tdc showing AOB=0 Speed=0 and Parascope at 0. Still the same result. I tried is with the PK on using constant updates to the TDC of range, bearing, AOB, etc....still the fish turn left at 45 degress.

I know that early fish were unreliable, but this seems more like a bug rather than fish running wild. I have tried different campaigns, new saves, etc. I am running Rallies Mod Soup with the update.

Mods are:

1.0TMO_RSRDC_OTC
1.5 OTC OptionalGoodys
1.5_OTC_REALISTIC Scopes for 16 to 9 RSDRDC
2.0 Ralles ModPack for TMO-RSRDC_OTC
AI Shoots torpedos
TMO_aft_deckguns
TMO_alt_engineSoudns
TMO_Alternate_JS_Radar_performance
TMO_Subtetures_Fooskin
2.1 TorpedoupdateV2

I have searched and unable to find anything in the forums about this particular issue. Any help would be great! And thanks to everyone for all the awesome work on the mods and the time spent helping newbies like me!

welcome back twon.

are you using manual or automatic fire control?
your vector analysis (above) is a bit perplexing because if you are shooting with AOB=0 you are attempting a tough shot. AOB=0 is a bow shot.
my suggestion is to re-start your career with automatic fire control and follow the approach techniques that you mention above. you should get some hits.

good luck. and good hunting.

Ahoy and welcome aboard @twon01

Please follow my installation order on the first page of my thread.
Only in this way can I guarantee the effectiveness of the integrated modifications.
Disable for testing 2.1 TorpedoupdateV2.

thanks guys for the quick reply! You guys rock!

Mark: I am using manual fire control. I will attach a photo of the procedure that I was following. The thing of it was, I couldn't miss during the practice missions. No matter my angle to target course. I also tried the constant bearing method (or whatever the correct name for it is....where you constantly update the information to the TDC from sightings from the scope). It never seemed to matter, the torpedoes turn left 45 degree.

Bleiente: I found a different thread that you suggested installing the torpedo patch, I have had the same issue before installing it, and after. I will start over with a clean install this evening (east coast time zone for me).

Here is the photo from Rock'n'robins that I was using.

Again, thanks for all the help!

I would do just the first four mods in the list, and see what you get. If it still does it on Manual, see what it does on Automatic... :salute:

Ok a bit of an update:

I tried propbeanie's suggestion of limiting the number of mods with no success. The torpedoes simply took a 45 degree turn to the left no matter what I told them to do.

So I uninstalled everything and started over. I got a clean install of 1.5 then installed the modsoup by the instructions listed on bleiente's post. Everything now works like a charm!

I started my first patrol on 12/1/41 out of Manila and headed north to patrol. On 12/9/41 I ran into the entire Jap invasion force heading towards Luzon. I managed to sink 1 transport before being driven deep by the escorts. I shadowed the convoy for the next two days, but every time I would move in for a strike, an escort would drive me down and the convoy would speed off. I was almost of out fuel from running flank speed to perform end-a-round's that I returned to base to refuel.

Thanks guys for all the hard work, it really does show the passion you have for the game!

yeah. consistency between practice, patrols, missions, and careers should be expected. however, through years of experience we have noticed that one cannot count on consistency: there are differences in performance.
don't yell at me....yell at ubisoft.
when we test new mods we always test each one of the separate patrol options for compatibility.
try automatic fire control (just one mission) and see if the issue re-occurs. at least then you will have one more piece of the puzzle.
good luck.

Thanks Mark. I'm not stressed about it (its just a game), and I was just getting back into it from a couple years hiatus. It works great now!

Again can not say enough to everyone who contributes to all the mods and tech help for guys like me! thanks!

Have you tried Rockin Robbins Corruption Management System?
Highly recommended!
