Booking into a hotel

I am traveling to Copenhagen to stay in a hotel with a friend for a few days. The room had been booked in the other person's name and as we are both coming to Denmark from other countries, we will have passports with us. Mine and EU one and the other person's not. I'm wondering, if my friend checks in and shows passport etc, will I be required to as I'm not named on the booking? It's a double room but in one person's name.

Probably not but what is the problem if you'll have your passport with you anyway?

Or at the very least, have your friend call the hotel and inform them you are authorized to check in, if you plan on arriving separately.
