Want to get SH5, afraid of all the techincal issues I've heard about.

Hello people. I'm sure you get posts like these all the time.

I just joined the forums to ask this. I've never played any SH games (or any submarine games ever). I watched a bit of gameplay of SH5 on youtube and seems really cool. However I got a bit bummed down when reading the reviews on steam. Are the technical issues that bad? Should I get SH3 instead? It seems quite outdated.

I'm also curious about the replay value of the games.

The reviews of SH5 on Steam seem to be mostly about the vanilla game, and to some extent quite justified. The only way I play SH5 is when heavily modded and specifically with TWoS (The Wolves of Steel), otherwise it's a mess.

I understand though that this still may not fix issues with it running on Win 10, but that aside; SH5+TWoS is a superb game, it's not perfect but IMO it's the best we currently have for a WW2 U-Boat simulation.

Alright, I got SH5 and the mod. Both downloads should be done soon and I'll see. Hopeing it works! If not, I can always refund the game. Thanks for the answer!

Heya, it's a pain in the butt, tho it can be done, iv just recently got sh5 and twos running correctly. And I'm creeping up the south of scapa float with capital on my mind.

The only way to play SH5 with STEAM is to use the TWoS mega mod which has a STEAM conversion in its installing program.

Update: Alright, the vanilla game and the TWoS game both work fine. I didn't ecounter a single problem (that I noticed).
