^ thanks for the great schedule. Are you ready for a rumble ? :D

The Thursday Sep 6 8:20 PM between the Falcons @ Eagles should be a good one.

As a side note around the NFL, Pittsburgh Steelers Running Back Le'Veon Bell refused to sign his franchise tag that paid him 12 million dollars last year and would see him paid 14.5 dollars this season. Bell thinks he is worth more. Bell Skipped training camp and the entire preseason. Worse, a new offensive coordinator was installed with newly draft offensive players.

Running back careers are short in the NFL and I don't think any running back is worth that kind of money. Further, I caught a few playoff games last year and Le'Veon Bell was next to useless in the playoff's when his team needed him to have a big game. Bell needs to face some harsh realities. He is a 27-year old running back with some mileage under his wheels. Talented college running backs are coming out of school at 22 years old and sometimes as young as 20. Endorsement deals may also dry up as a result of his " me first attitude. " Other teams may be reluctant to sign a malcontent and upset the balance of their respective teams. Bell has a reputation at this point of being selfish.

His team mates aren't happy with him either at this point and I think he has worn out his welcome. Bell won't play in the season opener and will lose $855,000 per game in salary for every game he misses.

Eagles won 18 to 12 over the Falcons in the first regular season game on Thursday night football.

Nick Foles did it again with the same play he pulled off in the Super Bowl against the New England Patriots.

PHILADELPHIA -- With his offense struggling, Eagles coach Doug Pederson dusted off a variation of the most iconic playcall in franchise history. This one, known as "Philly Philly," provided the spark he was looking for in an 18-12 win over the Atlanta Falcons.

Nick Foles was not his Super Bowl self in the first half Thursday night, averaging just 3.6 yards per pass attempt, and the offense was outgained by Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones 89-68 over the first two quarters.

Needing to inject some life into the unit, Pederson dialed up a play similar to the "Philly Special" that came to define the Eagles' Super Bowl win over the New England Patriots. In fact, "Philly Philly" is a play the Patriots ran in the Super Bowl against the Eagles, but the pass to quarterback Tom Brady fell incomplete in that game.

One of the reasons I hate the thursday games.

1) It makes FF a pain to be ready by thursday evening.

2) In todays world, it's very difficult to avoid spoilers like this if you follow the sport at all.

I think most teams and players would agree with you regarding the lack of preparation time for Thursday games. Monday Night Football games on the other hand were always a special event when I was growing up.

With regards to the spoiler, Well, it's no one's fault but mine. I shouldn't have looked. :haha:

There is still lots of Football left as the season has scarcely begun. I know there are lots of football fans here, yourself and Mr. Quatro included among many. I hope your favorite teams do well this year and that there are no catastrophic injuries to the players this season.

Sorry I posted that too early then ... I think that was the last thursday night football game for NBC which called it Sunday night on thursday night :hmmm:

NBC must have lost the thursday night contract and it is now on Fox, but not this thursday night. That was the first NFL game, but today is the real opening day with five games for free on my TV, plus 2 more on a double header on ESPN Monday night/

I just purchased a new Samsung 40" UHD 4k TV and college football looked great yesterday.

Pizza and brownies on the table (in five more hours) come on over :D

Speaking of brownies...

WE DIDN'T LOSE! WE DIDN'T LOSE! WE DIDN'T LOSE!

But with 6 turnovers, we really should have won, and handily. We're gonna suck for another year. But at least jackson is now 1-31-1 as head coach, so there's that.....

You can hardly be blamed for your exhuberance at the starting of the footbal season and posting scores. You are in good company. I manage to catch a good number of games during the season. If the lady and I have something to do on game day, we tape the games and watch them later and try to avoid people we know who watched the games. :03:

We have a large screen 4K tv too so you are welcome here as well. Bring the Pizza and brownies too. They will compliment the brautwurst and Sauer Kraut and Kielbassa. There is lemonade, Samuel Adams and Guinness beer to wash it down with.

In addition to the games, with the food, it can be a heartburn festival. What's NFL football without a little pain ? :D

I saw that early game as well. The Browns may well be seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. The Browns secondary looked good as did DE Myles Garrett. They and their fans deserve to see some success. RB James Connor for The Steelers was impressive in his first start as was their defense but QB Rothlisberger looked terrible throwing four interceptions.

My girl is a steelers fan, but surprisingly she has most of her teeth. I was lightly kidding her all week about Bell not showing up. But yeah, that Connor kid looked good. There went some of Bell's leverage.

Ben is just old. He should have retired. But alas, he's also my girlfriend's favorite player. She's in Ireland for two weeks, and I was texting her updates. One of them was "OMG BEN R JUST GOT SACKED AND SHATTERED HIS LEG!!" She stopped responding for a few hours after ESPN updated it's app.

Eh, that's just baseball. Interesting, but nothing extraordinary. By those numbers, every team will blow that type of lead about once a season. Baseball is just living proof of the law of large numbers.

I'm wondering if Patriots fans have a complex about teams from the Eastern part of Pennsylvania and the Meadow-lands of NY as the NY Giants beat the Patriots twice in the Superbowl and last year the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Patriots, 41-33 . Maybe it's the water there or the region. The Patriots have lost as many Super-Bowl's as it has won. ( 5 )

I felt sorry for the Cleveland Browns for three years now, but yesterday was too much tied 21 to 21 in overtime the Browns blow the game with a blocked field goal leaving the game tied 21 to 21 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

This tie will hurt at least one of them for sure at the end of the season.

The real surprise was the Packers vs Bears game last night

Packers won 24 vs Bears 23 with Aaron Rodgers making a remarkable come back in Green Bay throwing a 75 yard touchdown pass
